There's a significant portion of America that thinks Socialism is a good idea.
The average person is a fucking idiot. They have very little understanding of right and wrong. And they only think in terms of "what's good for me right now." There's no consideration for long term consequences.
Their entire life revolves around fitting in and doing what others do. COVID exposed a lot of this. If everyone else is afraid, I should be afraid too. If everyone else wears a mask, I should wear one too. If everyone else is getting the jab, I should too.
Where it starts getting really dangerous for society is when they turn on people who go against the grain. We saw this with the vaccine mandates. "Everyone must get vaccinated otherwise it doesn't work." That makes no sense. If the vaccine works, then you shouldn't care if others get it or not. If it doesn't work, then you shouldn't care if others get it or not.
Before Democracy
To change political leadership you had to raise an army that, ideally, was bigger than the current leader's army and fight it out. If you won, you became the political leader.
Then the Greeks said, "Hey, instead of us killing each other, let's just count up the number in each army, and whoever has more will be leader without the bloodshed." That's the birth of Democracy.
That's also why the founders of the USA were wise and only gave the vote to white, landowning, men. These were people who had some resources, mostly had their shit together, and could support a soldier or a few soldiers.
Then we gave the vote to everyone, including faggots, idiots, and other weak people. And guess which party they vote for?
Maybe we should return to the old ways...
Except, the education they are getting is shit.
Some of it was shit, that's for sure. I wasn't clear in my original comment, but my intent was to refer to the non-controversial parts of education, like reading, writing, mathematics, etc. School age children have fallen behind previous generations that didn't have to deal with a "pandemic." The truth of it is that online instruction can work for some, but does not work for all.
Mental health
Before COVID there were people close to the edge but still doing ok. The government response to COVID pushed everyone closer to the edge, and some people were pushed over the edge. That's maliciousness against people who are in a vulnerable situation.
The children
In addition to the mental health challenges, many kids are getting robbed of their childhood. Also they're suffering more developmental issues, and they're behind on education.
It is my sincere goal to leave this country and this world in a better condition than I found it for the next generation, and the government response to COVID is in direct contrast to that goal.
