I suffered from PF many years ago and was friends with a physical therapist. She gave me all of the usual recommendations for treating it and nothing worked for more than a day or two. At some point, I ran across a website for a PT clinic that recommended the ROTATIONAL HAMSTRING STRETCH. I began doing a set of 25 on each leg 3x a day. After a couple of weeks, the pain was almost gone. I found I could gradually begin reducing the number of times per day and then the number of times per week that I did the stretches, until I just needed them when I noticed a slight telltale pain. After a few months, I didn't really need them at all, but had discovered that they kept the little annoying back and neck pains away as well. Here is a link to a description of that stretch and others, but really, I think the hamstring stretch on its own will do it if you want to keep things simple. This was a miracle cure for me! http://accurateclinic.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Accurate-Clinic-Plantar-Fasciitis-Exercises-10-4-2011.pdf Edit for more info: https://runnersconnect.net/hamstrings-plantar-fascia-injuries/ TLDR: "In fact, after controlling for other variables, like BMI and calf tightness, the study demonstrated that having tight hamstrings made you nearly nine times as likely to suffer from plantar fasciitis."
Thanks for all the input... Helps a lot!
Good food for thought. Thanks!
Yes, I believe Maple Leafs are medical/surgical grade silver.
Yes, a long, slow exhalation will stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system, which can lower your blood pressure. Breathe out as slowly as you can; aim for 30 seconds.

Do some research on thiamine deficiency. Apparently it's common in alcoholism. Not a medical expert, but I think you'll want to take a B complex. Just make sure you take the complex in the morning or it will keep you from sleeping. If that happens, take the complex every two or three days and the extra thiamine every day. Maybe your research will yield a specific protocol for this.
I had a history of low iron for many years. Here is what I found that helped me. I agree with the advice to eat red meat and avoid trying to get iron from spinach and other veggies; some of which contain oxalic acid, which binds to iron and prevents its absorption.
Here are the two supplements that worked for me.
By far, this is the best iron supplement I've ever taken. It contains all the supplemental nutrients needed for absorption. I like the sustained release. Also, I found that (for me - you will want to research for your condition) taking a horsetail supplement 3 weeks on and 1 week off resolved the underlying issue that was causing my low iron.
I am not qualified to give medical advice. I am merely sharing my personal experience and research in the hopes that it can help OP or sometime else.
See if this breathing exercise will be helpful. Activating the parasympathetic nervous system can slow the heart rate. I have an arrhythmia (high 100s or more) and this always converts my rhythm/rate back to normal.
Breathe in deeply, through your nose and into your belly for a count of 6-8, then hold for a count of 4-6. The exhalation is the important part; it should be looooong and slooooow. I aim for a count of 30, which is difficult in an arrhythmic situation, but make it last as long as possible. Purse your lips into a small pinhole and allow as little air as possible to escape as slowly as possible. Keep going until your lungs are as empty as possible.
I am not a medical professional, just sharing information that has helped me. I am sending this information with prayers that it will help your niece.
