I don't know about everyone else, but I just said, "No."
They asked if it was a religious exemption and I said, "Nope. I just don't wanna."
They reminded me I could be fired, and I just said, "Welp, that'd be unfortunate and I'd be sad because I really like it here. But the answer is still no."
I wasn't threatening lawsuits or anything (although I absolutely would have just to set a precedent). Ultimately my manager punted it up to his manager, who punted it up to senior management who did what senior managent always does when firm, clear leadership is needed: nothing. :)
What's funny is this was to go to a company-wide conference, and the week after I was pretty much the only employee at work because everyone else had caught covid and was bedridden.
If you dump enough of them around you they transform from being a bike into a barricade. Just one more thing the sad sacks have to climb over to get to you while your back is turned.
Maybe not an impenetrable 12ft wall, but it buys enough time for your friends to surround you, setup a perimeter, expand it, and give you room to work.
They mention "casting spells" against Project 2025 to hurt Trump.
Now, I'm no warlock here or anything... but it seems to me that if you're going to hazard your immortal soul and make pacts with the Forces of Evil you might want to at least make sure about your target as your first step.
Actually, nevermind. Proceed, please.
And you should also "cast spells" against groups like Patriot Front. And all the people financing it. That'll really teach Trump a lesson.
How is it $1B can be funnelled out of FEMA funding and into EBT cards for non-citizens without a problem, but back when Trump wanted to redirect some defense funds into building the wall there were all these laws it would have violated?
What about to delay the election?
It's been said a lot: a head shot with an AR-15 at that range is just about impossible to screw up. Trump turning his head and only losing part of his ear is basically a miracle. There's also evidence that his security team knew the attack was coming.
If you're the Bad Guys(tm) and you know Trump is about to be killed with a damn near 100% certainty, what else can you leverage out of the event?
You could get on TV and talk about how "terribuh, absolutely terribuh" this "heinous" event was. You could call it a shocking and shattering point in American history. And you could say that we just aren't psychologically ready for something like a Presidential election, so we're going to just suspend those for 2024 and look into 2025 maybe if we're all in a better headspace.
With as much as these people project and how much they're talking about how the big worry is Trump will refuse to leave office and become a dictator, it's not hard to see where they were wanting it to go.
The parents are probably pissed about the drag queen reading hardcore gay pr0n to their 9 year olds in the library while their daughters are fighting off a rapist in the bathroom and their sons are having to deal with the pressures of both algebra and a horny social studies teacher.
Really? Because I've heard somewhere recently that there've been some people arguing against whether or not executive immunity is a real thing... not to mention the fact that both privilege and immunity don't apply if the law has been broken.
What I like about this play is even putting aside whether or not he's got standing, when the DOJ publicly declines or fails to comply, it's just going to make them look like they're covering up, which means their illicit prosecutions look even more suspect.
I'm concerned here friends that Wright doesn't have enough designer dresses purloined from luggage stolen from the airport to be effective in this role.
