Every single person plays all sports, including (especially) football. You learn how to avoid rattlers, centipedes that will cause a limb to die, landscape that wants to kill you. Everyone is super competitive, but also super loyal. There is no one soft in rural TX above the age of 5, and rural TX is a very, very big place.

Your points are valid. My take on this situation is that the MSM - those who control the “narrative” - is largely responsible for things deteriorating to this level. If we’d had real journalism during these years it never would have gotten this bad. The people, not the military, choose our elected officials (or so we thought).
