I can't help but think that if there is some brilliant plan at work then it would have been much easier to prevent someone from fraudulently taking the WH than having to remove them after their power has greatly increased. Realistically it will happen but not across the board, it happening overtly and in pockets however isn't just possible but likely to the point of there being a few running battles before things are done...
Cornered animals are unpredictable and the people behind the cleanup are certainly smart enough to have prepared for it, but by it's very nature such things are messy and difficult to guarantee containment of so it will spill over and have unintended/unwanted/unfortunate consequences that will spill over and affect civilians in a overt and public/impossible to hide way.
Even if it will be in spots and spread out it is likely to happen and happen for a while in locations that may not always be that easy to predict...
Maybe... revolution. If the military fails to defend our country from this attack, then the people rising up and doing it ourselves would be the only other option. That is my take on it, anyway.
