Well, it's an algorithm doing it, each newspaper pays the feed (like reuters, AP) for content (maybe generated by a content algorithm). News aggregators like Goggle pay (through an algorithm) the news papers for content, then auctions (via an algorithm) letters and words to advertisers who want to insert content (to get clicks/eyeballs). it's the attention economy.

Does this have something to do with news-generating bots? During the Holocough, you could type in the words "Covid" and a number and Google would generate news links that specifically gave the number of deaths for the number typed in. It was an algorithm thing.
