Hey fren, just want to tell you that there is always a reason to keep living. Always. You can’t predict the future and for every one of us, there is a bright future if we’re patient enough to hold on. I’ve been in your shoes in one way or another and the sun always rises, the next day will be here and with that, there is hope. Prayer helps. I know in my darkest hours, God listened to me. No, days aren’t always easy but you will get through this crisis if you hold on to family, friends and people here. Prayer can be as easy as finding a verse and repeating it. For me, it was the rosary. I’m not even that good of a Catholic but that brought me so much peace. It’s the act of meditating and focusing your thoughts away from what troubles you. He will hear you no matter what.
Hold on to nature, to things you hold dear, to memories that are positive, to potential love and new experiences. Life is precious and if something happens to you, the crater of loss around you will be deep and wide. It’s easy to have blinders on when you’re in so much pain but you have to trust me when I say-there is so much more life you have left to live. Joyful life. All politics and the current state of our country aside, there is still a beautiful life. You have much to give others and much to enjoy.
And to my next point. Think of focusing on doing good. It will help tremendously. As easily as cleaning out your closets and donating a bunch of stuff. Or volunteering your time. Or writing a letter to someone. A real snail mail letter. Letting someone know they’re important. You wouldn’t believe how good it feels to help someone else, no matter how small a task that is.
But address the depression by reaching out for help first with a professional. Idk you’re a vet or not but if so, call their crisis line. Or call any crisis line. You may need some meds to help. It’s hard to mobilize and do anything if you’re physically in need of some help. You deserve help and you deserve to feel better. Make that priority one and the rest will fall into place. I know from experience though, if you get your medical needs addressed, you’ll start having energy to focus on others. That’s the best thing. You’ll realize you can make a difference in the world- your small world of immediate fam and friends and later the community. Also consider getting a dog if you don’t have one. You’ll be amazed how much impact caring for another being has.
