It seems that the MIT researchers found out that COVID sceptics are not a bunch of tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorists but, rather, they are sceptics because they can see through the shallow explanations offered up by the "experts" and research the data themselves.
Quite often, an expert is an individual who has been educated beyond their intellect.
Quite often, the "experts" [they] employ are anything but.
But muh experts....?♂️?♂️?♂️?♂️
Imagine being so lost, that when you "infiltrate" an anti-mask group, only to discover that they do better science than you do, and rather than going "wow, I didn't know that" and becoming red-pilled, you instead resort to calling them "extremists" while acknowledging their better understanding of the empirical science than the typical Leftist.
These "researchers" must be part of the so-called 4-6% of lost souls.
Always been that way in science. New scientist tries to put forth a discovery only to be scoffed at. I've never understood that. As scientists, I would think they would all go through whatever problem anyone is trying to solve and find the conclusion. There's a reason they are like crabs in a bucket and I feel it's more to hide a truth than find it.
Science is all about money with what is approved by those with money. Basically in many ways it is worse than most religions in the world at this point. Real scientific progress/innovation often is done by accident or by self funded scientists.
And I say this as a STEM graduate.
Agree. Researchers need to acquire funding which they get from Gov and private companies. Corp. and Gov. sponsor research in which they have a desired output. Researches that produce the outputs Corps. and Gov desire get repeated funding. It is like prostitution. Researchers that don't get the "right" results, are financially starved out of business. Corrupt manipulative liars often become highly funded researchers - ergo Dr. Flip-flop More-masks Falsie.
All that and it doesn't even get into how far academia has fallen. The podcast on JRE where he has the two authors of all the crazy woke versions of existing literature really put the nail in the coffin for my trust in academics. I forget what words he switched in mein kampf but it still got published. Sad!
Hmmm, I think at this point it’s safe to say science is a religion. The mask craziness seems to prove this.
Super interesting! They prove the point for people that "science" from big elite oligarchic institutions like MIT can in fact see the truth, and still in the end choose to try to warp it to their own personal narrative.
Imagine that, MIT discovered that Covid skeptics value hard data and actually scientific processes over outright propaganda.
I wonder how many of these researchers have since come out of the dark into the light about COVID and masks. How many did we redpill?
They obviously have discovered and read the same material many of us have been doing now.
No shit Sherlock! And its not just the "uncertainty" that makes us see cover-up. It is the blatant censorship of anyone pointing out contrary interpretations of the data set, or unacceptable bias within the data set that makes us see cover-up. It is the publishing of fake data (that is later retracted) that makes us see cover-up. In short, it is the cover-up that makes us see cover-up.
Moreover, the fact that these researchers from MIT felt that they could somehow make statements of basic common sense into an entire research paper makes me question the integrity and intelligence of the entire CSAIL research department. Their research advisor, in this case Arvind Satyanarayan, needs to be reeducated about what makes an appropriate research paper.
For fellow pedes who don't try and dress up their vocabulary to sound smarter among their peers elide means omit.
Or spin.
This was a not a hit piece. It was a defense of the socratic method disguised as arrogant snark. Brilliant. A back-handed fuk-you to the chicken shits in the scientific and academic world. Fucking cowards.
"In other words, anti-maskers value unmediated access to information and privilege personal research and direct reading over “expert” interpretations."
I think Martin Luther gained some popularity around that very idea.
Still worded the headline into one that sufficiently conforms to the narrative, which sets the stage for bias from anyone that reads it and actually needs to understand the actual text in it...
Fat lot of good it'll do but I reposted this to r/science (hey, at least I'm still fighting...)
Sent to my sister- her response: ” This just made me LOL I'm not intelligent. It's just common sense not to take candy from strangers.” So happy I have her to go down fighting with me, as this is a hill we will die on.
Doesn't sound like a liberal analysis to me. Sounds like honesty!
Gee, it's like they were surprised by the outcome or something... which speaks to flawed assumptions.
