Native Texan here...couple decades ago, our Tx legislators pulled the same shit, going to Okla City hotel to "hide out"...they were found and returned to Texas, tails tucked...i wonder if fleeing to DC is considered leaving the USA??
With all due respect from one native to another, they were not found and returned tails tucked.
In May 2003, during the fight over a mid-census redistricting plan, 50+ D House members holed up in a Holiday Inn in Ardmore, OK to break quorum and returned to the House after time had expired for consideration of the bill.
During the 1st called session, D Senators invoked the 2/3 rule which prevented a vote from happening in the Senate. During the 2nd called session, the 2/3 rule did not apply and 11 D Senators fled for Albuquerque, NM. After about 6ish weeks John Whitmire broke ranks and returned to Austin to try to negotiate with Senate Rs. The rest of the group returned with him because +1 was all that was needed for quorum. They forced "Quitmire" to walk onto the floor alone. He was greeting with handshakes and cheers by the Rs, the chamber was called to order, a motion was made to adjourn, seconded, and that ended 2nd called session. It took about 4 minutes gavel to gavel. Redistricting passed during the 3rd called session.
Rick Perry did seek permission from Gov's of OK and NM to send in Rangers to make the arrests, but he was denied.
There was an arrest following the 1979 Killer B's quorum break. The Senators in question hid in the converted garage apartment of one of their chiefs of staff. As the story goes, Gene Jones' claustrophobia kicked in and he left for his home in Houston. Rangers showed up and the man who answered the door looked like the photo they had. They asked "Are you Jones?" He said yes and they arrested him and brought him to Austin. When presented to LtGov Hobby, it turned out to be Senator Jones' brother. Gene had jumped the backyard fence while Rangers were detaining his brother.
How great would it be if the military stepped in and returned these traitors to Texas. There could be no doubt that we are still in control after an event like that.
If a person on the run is arrested in another state, the Governor of that state (or governor's council) can then review the extradition and sign the papers for rendition to the original state.
In Washington DC... the "Governor" effectively is Joe Hidin'.
He can't even tie his shoelaces without help. Old Joe (who is really an actor)... will sign the papers and agree to rendition of the fugitive lawmakers from Washington DC back to Texas. He'll think he's ordering jello for lunch.
Meanwhile, the lawmakers will be back in Texas in a week.
Actually, DC has its own government. "No taxation without representation" remember? DC politics has no more power - or less - in DC than anywhere else. The people of DC elect their representatives they aren't elected by foreign states and sent there from foreign states. That would be a governor without representation.
Here is a thought. Arrest them upon return to Texas, hold them without bail in solitary confinement because they are a threat to society, and don’t let them out until the Patriots who protested peacefully at the Capitol on January 6 are released. Because aren’t these a Texans doing the same, peacefully protesting by going to D.C.?
"IN THE NAME ANDBY THE AUTHORITY OF THE STATE OF TEXAS, I,, dosolemnly swear (or affirm), that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office of of the State of Texas, and will tothe best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State, sohelp me God."
They are subverting that oath by their present actions which may amount to treason.
I would pay to watch those executions live.
YES
Tex-ecute.
No execution meds? No problem, give 'em a dozen or so of those "vaccines" everyone seems to be so happy to get nowadays.
Not humane? No problem. Rope and lead are cheap. Sick of their childish shit. No quarter for the dims. Make them pay for their actions.
I'd rub on... wait what.

Tx law calls for legislative fugitives be arrested by state police and sent back to Texas. That's why they chose DC this time

Under Texas Law it means they are now officially listed as "legislative fugitives".
They were smiling going out to DC, they are going to be crying coming back.
Rules/laws apply to Demonrats and to elected officials? Who'da thunk it?
What could it be like if that concept catches on?
;-)
Things are already getting spicy this week!
That's one way to get a quorum...

Hahahahahaha. It's damned hard to hide from the Texas Rangers. Hahahahahahahaha.
Call em up and tell em get to work.
"I'm rough and tough and hard to bluff 'cause I'm a Texas Ranger."
Amen. If a criminal runs, they are eluding the police. They should be arrested. Eluding arrest is the law in every state I do believe.
Vote yes to go after them
hell yeah rope em and tie em.......good old fashioned rodeo
Well there were quite a few heffers on that plane.
Democrats gonna democrat

Bout time we started bringing the fight to them
Bet those idiot Karens aren’t grinning now.
What the hell are they doing in DC anyway?

Why can't they just vote without them?
A quorum of legislators is probably needed in order for a vote to occur.
because DC is not a state, there must be diff laws in play?
What law are they breaking?
Yes. Think so too.
They took an oath to uphold the Constitution.
Here it is:
"IN THE NAME ANDBY THE AUTHORITY OF THE STATE OF TEXAS, I,, dosolemnly swear (or affirm), that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office of of the State of Texas, and will tothe best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State, sohelp me God."

These people are stupid.
This would start serious political wars - Republicans dont have it in them

Don't just arrest them. Put them in jail, prosecute them and then give them to the people. Let's see how they like abusing their power then.
