10th Mountain was formed and trained in the Rockies of Colorado during WW2. Served with great distinction against crack German troops. When the vets got their 'busted ducks', they went on to form ski lodges and runs (champagne powder, anyone???). There are parts of the camps preserved in place..

10th Mountain was one of the first to deploy post 9/11 to Afghanistan. Spouseanon was in the NG at the time and was called up. While they were figuring out where his unit was going and doing all the paperwork, etc., I remember the day at the armory when we found out they had left the night before.
I was there, I served in the 10th, and will always be part of the family!

I beg to differ! I served in the 10th, and we take a back seat to nobody. 18th is simply a majority of jump certified light infantry, whereas the 10th is made up of numerous capacities and most members are also jump certified.
I deployed IN the 10th. Not sure where you get your info, but the 10th is considered one of the "Big 3(82nd-101st-10thMtn)" in the Army. Sounds to me like your flirting with Stolen Valor, or you are just spouting off stuff you truly have no clue about.

I worked with them in Iraq; tough bunch & highly trained. The 82nd Airborne Div (AA) are the best I worked with tho. 101st guys also great, but their last deployment in Afghanistan something changed. Wokeness had seeped-in. Every time Units rotate out they gave minimal turnover making the new Unit start from scratch. All the relationships with locals gone. This not the exception but the rule. Completely destroyed the overall mission(s) and I saw it in OIF and OEF. Imagine at your civilian job dayshift leaves with no turnover to nightshift...yeah. These all being regular Army, not SF Groups.
Central Asia. But doesn't seem as if the entire division is there. 6000 sticks on the ground so not a full division. But I'm not former army so those guys that are would know better than I. Hell, I'm lucky if I can figure out army ranks hahahaha.
They're good. Primarily a mountain force. Which would explain the heavy presence in Afghanistan.

They are from Fort Drum in northern NYS. They are wonderful. Some of the best!!
Oh yeah, a lot of their veterans founded ski areas in Colorado in the 60s. The modern American ski industry probably wouldn't be where it is without those men from the 10th. If you're ever in Vail they have a cool ski museum that has a lot on them. Plus there's also a great whiskey distillery that uses their namesake right in the ski village.
