Over %18 of the Taiwanese Defensive / Offensive plans are based on taking out 3 Gorges.
3 Gorges is the Achilles Heel of China.
China knows it and they are terrified.
I had guessed that Taiwan would target 3G dam, but could not quantify their response. Between missiles, bombers, and human sabotage, it would certainly be a profound hit on China. They can't defend against 100% of Taiwan's weapons, only a few have to get through to wreak total damage.
Is that 18% you cited in any reports you can cite?

From what i recall Chen Shui-bian was who really kicked started the Taiwanese military in ~2013 - 2015 into fast-tracking this planning.
Taiwan is suspected of creating very specific missile designs that are designed to work in an "all or nothing" scenario where 1000 are fired simultaneously and only 1 would need to impact the dam to cause a catastrophic outcome where much of the Chinese Industrial Sector would be DOA.

I can't remember seeing one from on top of the spillway like this. Regardless, that looks like a dam about to overflow.

If this video is legit, it’s taken from the western side of the dam.
I follow a bloke who reports on china's dams and in the past couple of months there has been a few FALSE claims of it being breached however, before I commented on this link I went and checked his stuff, he is reporting on it as well and the video posted does have the three red cranes that are on the dam so... pray for the many thousands of people down stream in China that may get flooded and lives destroyed today :X Unless this video was one from last year, like some of the other ones were. IDK.
Yeah the one the OP here linked doesn’t show those red cranes which led me to question the veracity of the reporting.
Seeing as you’re confirming I’ve rethought; By my estimate the video linked here is taken on the far western side of the Dam if legit.
I’d love it if you could shoot over a link to the reporter you mention and his coverage.
There IS footage out there from Last year at this time when it was real bad as well there is footage out there from OTHER dams in china that have collapsed this year that people have posted as being the big one.
Millions if not tens or hundreds of millions are downstream. It would be one of the worst catastrophes in human history.

There is water coming over the topside, while all drain pipes are open. Last year, that has not happened. Meaning, the water level is +185.
And there is more rain coming from the back lands ...
And then there is one other item that is often overlooked: wind. Wind can shift water from one end to the next, causing a sort of eb/flood scenario.
Last winter, we had a strong south westerly, and the width of the lake it only a mile or so. The water had receded laying bare the bottom up to a depth of 6 feet.

Then you also have to take into account the bedrock .... being exposed to tectonic activity.

Looks like a controlled release... but the little bit of water spilling over the top--I guess that was the object of the video, maybe? That would mean that the water level is way high. And with all of the water be released, how could the water be spilling over the top? How much new water is coming in behind the damn dam? And who the hell is dumb enough to be standing there filming it? And they should have at least brought a drone so they could go up above and show us both sides. Of course, I'm typing all of these great ideas from the comfort of my kitchen : )
Whether this is the three gorges or not, the dam in this video has water cresting the top even with the spill ways fully open. Dams have a safe water level limit that is usually a percentage of the total height of the structure down from the top. if water starts pouring over the top, it can lead to a major structure damage to the dam and can cause it's collapse.
As a side note, it also means the spill ways cannot handle the amount of water flowing into the area behind the dam. If you can't clear the water coming into the dam, and the current water is starting to crest the top of it, you're in a death spiral leading to failure. It's like a plane that lost all it's engines, it can coast for a while but eventually it'll be flying into the ground.
