My mother in law who is a vent protocol survivor was on the mend and was killing it on the rehab front (she was up and walking around, getting dressed, the works, almost on the verge of coming home) when she managed to get sick with a stomach bug and was reinfected with aspirational pneumonia yesterday. She's been submitted to ICU with high CO2 levels. Different facility this time and the docs are doing everything to keep her off the ventilator. She's been seeing her CO2 levels drop a bit in the last few hours, but she's got a long haul again. You pedes did it the last time with the power of prayer and I'm asking for help once again.
Thanks!
Love you guys!
Rusty...
I'm praying right now and will continue---May our good and merciful Lord Jesus bring healing to your mother in law and give wisdom and direction to her doctors.
Amen🙏🏻
Amen!
Thank you!
Praying for God's healing power to be recognized in your mother-in-law. Praying also for the medical staff attending her that God guides them to do no harm. Finally, am praying for you and your family to have courage and faith that God is in control. May God's will be done. In Jesus' name, Amen.
God has a plan for her! Thank you!
In agreement. Prayers up.
Thanks for the tip! I will definitely make that suggestion. She was still in the rehab section when all this kicked off. But I had wondered if she isn't going to be more prone to pneumonia after all this. Yes, the badass MIT is for sure a rarity. I hit the lotto with mine. Thanks for the prayers!
As always, rooftop, you’re a wealth of information. I can actually add a little something about Manuka honey that may or may not be useful. It’s the one natural remedy I actually know a little bit about. 😬 So you’re right about it having antimicrobial like properties and is used for a plethora of different things so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was helpful in the way you suggested. Honey in general has antimicrobial properties but manuka has that something “extra” and that has to do with the flower the bees make the honey from, the manuka flower which is only found in New Zealand. In fact, you want to make sure that you are getting true, authentic, New Zealand honey and that is a web search project by itself that I won’t get into due to time and length.
What I used manuka honey for was my adult acne. You literally just put raw honey on your face and leave it on for at least 20 minutes and then rinse off. It works by sucking any toxins out of your skin and then “kills” the infection while at the same time soothing and hydrating your skin. My sister inlaw has used it for all of my nieces and nephews after my success and all of their skin has been much more manageable during puberty than me or my siblings was when we were teenagers. It’s been a long time since I researched all the uses it has but I remember some of the things blowing my mind over honey being able to be used as a cure.
A side note about it literally sucking toxins out of your skin... my coworker started doing the honey mask not long after she saw my results. She also gets Botox injections every 3 months or so. We started noticing that her Botox seemed to be wearing off much more quickly than it normally would. Like she would get her injections and then 4-5 weeks later she would feel like it was already wearing off. I finally had an epiphany that since Botox is technically a toxin, it would make sense that the honey was doing its job and pulling the toxin out. So, she started basically doing the mask from her cheeks down to avoid her crows feet area and forehead. Sure enough, that was the culprit. Her Botox went back to lasting its usual 3 months. 🤷🏼♀️
Where do you usually get everything from? The yarrow, GSE, and goldseal?
Thanks for all the great information. I will have to do some digging around where I live and see what I can find. I grew up on the farm, but I live in the big city suburbs now, so genuinely fresh stuff is kind of hard to come by around here.
Prayers for your mother in law ,fren.
Thanks!
You're welcome. God is the Mighty Physician.

Prayers sent. I've gone through this myself. 17 days in the hospital with Covid Pneumonia, 7 of those in the ICU. I'm stilling fighting the remains of long haul Covid. I'll keep her in my daily prayers.
Thank you! Any tips?
Yes. Sleeping on her stomach will hell her breath easier with Pneumonia. I'm sure it saved my life.
Yup. It helps open up the airway. Thanks!
Prayers up, Fren. I have the best MIL a woman could ask for. It's rare to hear someone NOT complaining about their spouse's mom. Praying we both get to keep them around for a long while
It's a rarity for sure. She's definitely a good one! Thank you!
I'll pray for her and your family.
Thank you!
You got it Rusty. Praying now. God bless you and your family.
Thank you!
Sending prayers.
Lord we ask that you would heal this womans body, in particular the lungs and blood carrying oxygen to the rest of her body. Also we ask to give the medical persons wisdom and the family strength, in Jesus name.
I am not a doc or giving med advise!
So after posting 👆I was wondering what physical option was out there. My first thought was blood swap like dialysis since the kidneys do the disposing process and i ran across 👇🏼 Which mentions some new device that “scrubs” the blood. https://aabme.asme.org/posts/device-removes-co2-from-blood-to-help-people-with-copd.
She was on dialysis after the first go round. My guess is it's not out of the question. Thanks
Dear Rusty, I pray that your MIL pulls through with the help of a God and that you will enjoy each other’s company for many years to come.
Thank you fren!

I'll suggest it to her when she's better. Thanks fren!
Praying now for a full and speedy recovery.
Thank you!
Dear Lord, please send healing to Rusty’s MIL & all who are in need. Strengthen them & all who love them with your presence. Draw them to your promise of salvation in Christ Jesus, and fill them with your peace. Give wisdom & discernment to the medical staff, that they be extensions of your healing hands. Sometimes the road to health takes a while longer. Please give Rusty’s MIL the strength to succeed and return home to those who love her. I ask this in Jesus’ Holy name, Amen.
Thank you!
You are welcome, Rusty!
Is there an update? I'm still praying that God heals her and he gives you and your family strength and wisdom during this time.
She wasn't able to get her CO2 levels down last night, so at 3am they intubated her. They are doing a culture on her lungs this morning to see what kind of bacteria they are dealing with. Don't know much more than that right now. Gonna be a long haul now that she's on the vent again.
Thanks for the update. What is her first name so I can personalize my prayers, rather than just "Rusty's MIL?"
It's Maria. Thank you!
Prayers sent for your m-i-l, fren. May God in all his mercy heal her and make her well and whole again.
Thank you!
Keep us posted on her progress, fren!
I will, at the moment her CO2 is down and she's lightly sedated on a vent. She wasn't able to get her CO2 down because she was fighting the CPAP to breath in all the high flow O2. They said her lungs are too damaged currently to scrub the CO2 out of her body efficiently. Now it seems she's on the long road again. But she's tough and she's a fighter, so I have hope she can get off the vent again!
Thanks
I use a CPAP for sleep apnea. From personal experience, it's harder to breathe with CPAP if you tense up and fight it and attempt to take deep breaths, then shove them out when you exhale. If you relax and take normal breaths that aren't quite so deep, then it's much easier. I know, it's sometimes easier said than done. Your lungs will eventually get used to the pressure and will adapt such that you will barely notice it over time.
You may want to inquire into what air pressure they're using and see if dropping it back a bit might help. It's definitely something that you need to work your way up to, as your lungs will get stronger over time.
I know they had tried backing it down a bit, and they were monitoring it.
I'm glad to hear they are monitoring it. There is definitely an adjustment period for getting used to it. I don't know how they do it in a hospital setting, but one thing that can be an issue is the mask leaking. It can blow air up into your eyes and dry them out. If this should become the case, I can recommend using a sleep mask. I've tried a bunch of them and the ones I like best are ones you can get at Walmart. They're around $2 or $3 or so. The only problem with them is that the foam inside off-gasses for awhile and stinks. I stick them in front of a fan for a day or two to air them out before I use them. They're made in China, but what isn't nowadays? I've tried ones from the drug stores, but sometimes their elastic is too tight or the foam is too thick and then the mask squishes too tight against your eyelids.
More prayers sent your way, fren. I hope all goes well for your m-i-l!
Thanks for the tips, I will pass the info along. Thanks!
This is going to sound stupid but… beet juice. I went home from the hospital after 10 days with COVID pneumonia and pulmonary embolism, was still on oxygen at home and it was hard to walk. My husband got me organic beet juice in a jar from the food store because I wanted it to help with circulation. I drank 1 cup a day by consuming 2 shots 3x a day. Let me tell you my breathing got better immediately and my pulse oxometer readings went from low 90’s with oxygen support to 98-100%. I kept up this protocol for 4 weeks and got off oxygen quicker than the doctors said I would. The days I skipped the juice I regressed! I know this advice sounds crunchy but if it helps your MIL I’m happy to share 🙏
Everything helps! Thank you for the advice. Everyone has been so great with their suggestions. Thank you!
Thank you!
