This whole sequence is clearly telling a story. The world is a Chess board - a great game - and there are people in the shadows pulling the strings of all major happenings. From the fall of USSR to the rise of CCP and now Russia invading Ukraine, its a continuum, and the SOF are the ones on the group spearheading all these things, again behind the shadows.
The next sequence is the rapidly evolving warfare, ending with
And all the world's a stage
and the shadow conductor finishing is performance and the curtain dropping.
This frames the great game beyond just fall of USSR. Its saying that all warfare we have seen has been orchestrated by the figures in the shadows, and the whole world has always been just a stage. But the curtains are dropping on this stage!
