Although, there is a tweak here: Our Creator empowers us to define ourselves in conjunction with Him. It's not just a one-way deal. He gives us individual free choice so that we can play a role in shaping who we become. That is, how we develop and manifest his nature within us. We do this best by embracing God's love and honoring him in how we make the best of ourselves.

But Lucifer rejected God's love, and chose to honor himself, not God. Cut off from God's love, he exists in a vacuum of toxic destructive energy.

So yeah, Lucifer attempts to put himself ABOVE God. We define ourselves by recognizing our correct position to God, and receiving him.
