Most states have state guards that are not NG affiliated. At least in the south. What's bad ass is that he's actively recruiting folks. I'm curious as to whether or not they train with weapons .
If they don't, then it's toothless. However, if a program is introduced that trains them in use, safety, maintenance and protocols this could actually be something that has some serious value in putting Florida into a power position in future disputes.
If large amounts of people are taught to be riflemen and taught how to "shoot move communicate"... that would make that place the world's most deadly place. For shitbirds.
I'm a less-than-POG, since I don't have veteran status. But I have watched enough Clint Smith to know: if you are not moving and reloading as you are shooting, you are dead. And Mike Glover and every other "Operator" (ugh) who gets on the blower says the same thing. Move in a cooperative way. Establish overlapping fields of fire. Call for cover when you need it, and provide it when it's requested. Keep moving, as static targets get the mortar. Know your plan A, plan B, and plan C, and know your objectives before the shooting starts. Know where the rally point is if it all goes to shit. Know what the radio channels and codes are. Stay off the radio unless you need to be on it. Jack yourself up with meth and modafinil. Ok that last one might be optional. :)
EDIT: To add: Your comment on "POG" had me thinking that there's more there to say. Again, I have never been to war. But I've done some seriously sketchy stuff and I've learned that if you hang your balls out too far, they are gonna get clipped. And we have many quotes from folks like Napoleon, etc. about how an army moves on its stomach, etc. All of which is to say that the non-fighting logistics are, as you rightly point out, super important. You can survive this fire fight, but can you survive this Winter, with me cutting off your supply of Taco Bell? Lots to think about.
Ooh, I bet the marxists in Florida's blue-infested cities don't like this at all. A couple points from the article...
.
Floridians are ready to roll...
"... Within less than a month, Florida has already received more than 1,200 applications. The force, though, will only accept 400 members. ... "
.
And this group will, unlike the NG, report only to the State...
"... The force will assist the Florida National Guard during natural disasters and states of emergency. But unlike the National Guard, they will not accept federal support and will answer only to state leaders. ..."
.
So when the good Governor of Florida declares a state of emergency there due to rabid marxist violence, I guess the new State Guard there can start deploying to subdue the rabid, city-destroying, murderous leftist beasts.
Now I really want to join. Former LE, Navy, K9, investigator etc here... 60yo but ready to go. The state needs a group To stand up to feds or to replace unresponsive local governme t police who don't respect the law.
DeSantis' people just released that they now have the funds to expand beyond the first tranche of 400 FL Guard soldiers. Gov. DeS. said they need more for hurricane season alone.
Can you drop a link for the news of the expansion? I just went looking for it and can't yet find it. Unlike others I'm not hooked into the social media sites.
Music to my ears! And - wow - talk about good news following fast on the heels of good news! Win -win! Thanks for the update. I hope other states follow Florida's lead. (Edit: Yes, I know plenty of other states have State Guard organizations, but expanding these and hiring our great vets who left their service under the Potatus admin would be poetic).
And now when they do their job, because they report to the state only, the feds can’t use DHS to harass them like what they are doing to the border patrol agents.
Please spread this to a vet or recently discharged based soldier you know. Let's tend to our patriots who gave us so much for low pay and grief from compromised brass.
the last paragraph gives their reasoning for this
“The bureaucrats in D.C. who control our National Guard have also refused to increase the number of guardsmen despite our increasing population, leaving Florida with the second worst National Guardsman to resident ratio," he said. "By reestablishing the Florida State Guard under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Graham, we have a great opportunity to expand our capability to help people in times of need or disaster.”
Once again, Florida leads the nation! Texas dropped the ball one too many times and now lok at them!

Amen. I don't think enough Patriot/civilian emphasis is put on the pog aspects like comms and logistics.

Thank fren! Great reply!!
The bad thing is this is what passes as your "right" to form a militia.
pureblood army
Brilliant..Arming citizens! this is great news , if I'm interpreting correctly! Bravo !
A well regulated militia...
Yes yes music to my ears !

You can get a little more info here. There's probably a "Contact Us" section if you have specific questions.

Next month: Florida secedes from union, DeSantis named Emperor Supreme of newly named Floridonia

New CO is a former Marine Lt. Colonel with 3 deployments and a stint with the Defense Intelligence Agency or DIA for short under his belt.
I wish every state had a governor with ball's like DeSantis.
So let me get this straight : This is not the Florida U.S. Army National Guard; this is a new state militia?
Yep, no federal funding so it only answers to state officials.
That is effing awesome.
It's not really "new" but yes
Just in time for the FL State Guard to intercept/escort any "Hurricane Hunter" aircraft that may come now that it's hurricane season. Hopeful
Can non-Floridians join?
Should've moved, darnit!
My fellow Americans the… I’ll just leave this here 🐸
Can someone disarmed by the floridian red flag laws still join ?
Second Amendment:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few public officials." - George Mason
Anyone help me get US citizenship and move to the US lol
Getting ready to keep out the border aliens.
Can I join if I'm a prior service old fucker from out of state?
What's begun? They are only accepting 400 applicants.

Who gives a flying leap what a Florida State Democrats want when they never care what the majority of the populous wants?
