True story-I took guitar lessons from Ernie Carletti back in the day. LOL he’s in prison for rape of a UD student. I can't think of any Pantera lyrics that are either of those things, unless violence in general is considered problematic, but most of them have no problem with rap or hip-hop which is far more obscene
It goes back to Rebel flags being common imagery on their shirts and flown at their concerts, it also didn't help that Phil Anselmo once shouted "white power" on camera though that might really have been a really poor attempt at a joke given how apologetic he was and never saw him do it again. The songs however never gave any sort of racist vibe.

Most metal fans I know are pretty based but I do know a few younger soyboi metalheads, weird guys who have the metalhead look and some can even lift three times what I can working physical labor jobs but they are still virtue signalling beta males who get pushed around by feminist women and have no will to fight if you confront them over anything. If I had to guess it's lack of a strong father figure and probably being smothered by a mom who never let them fully grow up.
I fight like Hell too much to turn into that, but you're right, I can't speak for the younger ones...
