I've used the term "was" when speaking about a friend from the past .
"He was cool" {he's still alive but 'was' is indicative of not really seeing each other anymore}

Compared Abe's skin tone laying there bloody with most recent still, & he was bled out. Seen enough dead & dying over 25yrs in ER to know dead when I see it
Personally, I think Abe is a friend.
Trump has been talking positive about the guys since announcing he was going to run for POTUS and even played golf with the guy more than once.
Whether he is a good guy or not, I pray that he is fine. I can judge Abe but the ultimate judgement will come from the Big Guy.

I saw the video of the shooting. First shot missed, everybody ducked except Abe, Second shot---couple of seconds later---hit Abe and he went down. The security ducked as Abe got shot not willing to protect the man .

If you look closely, there are 5 or 6 guys standing between Abe and the shooter. None of them are injured, yet Abe gets killed?? The shooter had a homemade shotgun. How did they all get missed? Then there are the two guys in the foreground (one of them is wearing a sash). They run a short distance then turn to hide behind the guardrail. Who does that? Why didn't they keep running?

They said it resembled a shotgun. If it was really a homemade weapon, it likely doesn't have a perfect seal, the bullet may be rudimentary as well. But it well could have been faked.
