My wife pointed something out to me tonight whilst we were in the garden (night time here in the UK, but very hot).
Where are all the bugs?
The living room light was left on and all the windows were open, and when we went back in there was a single moth flying round a bulb, that was it. Back in the eighties we would have been fighting off a swarm of thunderbugs, moths, flies and daddy-longlegs, but toight...zip...nada.
Anyone else notice anything?
Not here across the pond. I'm fighting Japanese beetles right now. Those damn things are invasive and have no known predators.
They have those little bags you put out that attracts them. We used to have them for a couple years and the bags worked great but currently in Georgia we are dealing with joro spiders that are very obnoxious as well as prolific...spiderweb EVERYWHERE!
We just got a hold put on all outgoing orders because of JB. Ag department almost shit themselves when one showed up in our traps. Plenty of chemical control out there but no natural predators locally. As for bugs not being anywhere, could have to do with climate, or other limiting factors like no food source around.
Or, overuse of pesticides.
Overuse of chemical pesticides render them useless. Responsible use of pesticide/fungicide is part of what makes american ag so great.
The circle of life is complete.
Perhaps we could have done that a better way, if only we didn't have Evil Overlords that believed us to be Useless Eaters.
True, horrifying, yet made me laugh out loud. I guess my defenses kicked in before the end of the list.
Cleanup… on ilse 4 we lost a good one
I’ve been musing about this very thing several times this summer.
We are usually silly with bugs where I live. Almost none this year. 🧐
Middle of the US, a definite lack of mosquitoes when I'm out fishing in the evenings. Not sure what to make of it, but yeah, I've noticed.
Well, apparently we eat them now, at least that is what they are promoting. Seriously, with all the chemicals on fields and lawns, and electromagnetic exposure, bugs are becoming extinct. Has been a real crisis with the honey bee, but the NWO has usurped all western governments and does not do a thing about it, and that fits so snuggly with their depopulation agenda.
I'll be happy to let you have all of the ones in my yard and at the lakes and rivers. I'm sick of getting eaten alive every time I mow my grass, do any yardwork, or go fishing.
I live in Philadelphia, Pa and said the same thing to my family and friends over the last week... Compared to years past, I have barely seen any flies, bees or mosquitoes this summer. It's creepy!
Greg Hunter on USAWatchdog just interviewed Dane Wigington, founder of GeoEngineering Watch who said the ozone layer is being purposedly destroyed and that kills the insects. https://rumble.com/v1cirlx-40-million-in-us-west-without-water-in-2023-dane-wigington.html
yup. https://evolvetoecology.org/2018/09/21/a-planet-sized-laboratory-mass-insect-die-off-species-extinction-geoengineering-mycoplasma-cancer-autoimmune-diseases/
June bugs never showed up here.
same here, no june bugs. I've commented a few times about the lack of bugs, bottom of the food chain.
This weekend we were over run with june bugs in northern california! still tons of bugs here and hummingbirds.
I have always had a lot of spiders where I live, and that hasn't changed. However, when i drive on the freeway, there are a lot less insect splatters on the front windshield.
I'm in the midwest USA close to lake Erie. First year no yellow jackets in the mulch bed, one small wasp nest out back in a bin. I've seen one tiny butterfly, a couple of moths, no dragonflies or damselflies. No mosquitoes (and I'm a magnet for them). Not nearly as many lightning bugs as previous years. Good amount of regular flies and plenty of tiny ants, not so much the bigger ones, though. As much as I don't mind not being 'bugged', it is kind of scary.
Probably overhunting decimated the population. These NWO types don’t know shitall about conservation either.
Big lack of mosquitoes and flies in south central Michigan. Hasn't been overly hot, and rain has been pretty normal, maybe a bit light.
I’m in south Mississippi and we got plenty bugs you can have. Just come get ‘em. Oh and be aware of the mosquitoes. They are our neighbors state bird. They will carry your butt to the swamp and feast on your flesh for days.
Here in the U.S. they’re in my vegetable garden and the wild turkeys are coming into eat them. Problem is the turkeys damage plants in the process.
Could it be you’re insects don’t like the heat too?
Bugs are A-Ok around here.
Probably the heat wave is affecting them. Here in NY it is an uncommonly light year for insects. Cycles are typical for them, but this seems unusual. If I go out at dusk, I get eaten. But if I go out later, 10pm or later, there's hardly a mosquito around.
Yes, this was actually brought up on Brett Weinstein’s Dark Horse podcast about 6 months ago. A lot of people are noticing it.
I was in Wisconsin briefly a few summers ago, and noticed a strange lack of mosquitoes, and bugs in general. Very different from when I lived there as a kid in the 70s and 80s.
