'Misery loves company' means that when you are feeling poorly and everyone else is doing fine, you feel resentful and are forced to look within. 'Why am I the only one who's a failure?"
Thus, if you are successful in making others feel terrible about themselves, and they begin to commiserate with you, then you can collectively decide to blame others for your misery. The more successful you are at making others feel bad and they join your group, then you can more easily try to ruin the lives of those who are currently doing fine.
That is also a good explanation as to why the BLM actively worked to include 'others' in their cause in order to have more power and more influence. They stopped saying Black Lives and began to use the term 'BIPOC' and INDIGENOUS PEOPLE.
They (without asking them) began including the Hispanics, the Asians, the American Indians in their group of OPPRESSED PEOPLE. Then the LGBTQ joined them. Now they have a much bigger, more powerful group of people who can claim to be: Oppressed People held down by the White Men'.
It's all very clever and insidious at the same time.

That's a new perspective for me for sure. Not sure how easy it would be convince me that a person in trouble can manipulate to such an extent. I'm sure there's a microscopic minority that would default to that under duress, but people are not action heroes.
Most people, when faced with trouble, go feral in one way or another. There's wisdom in keeping that fact handy when you see someone in a pitiable situation. Jesus wasn't joking around when He told the story of the Good Samaritan.

I've known several people that fit that description. For instance:
~A woman I knew learned her husband was cheating with her best friend who was younger and prettier than she was. He filed for divorce. She immediately hooked up with someone new and set about destroying his relationship with his ex-wife (very young and pretty) and demanding that he always put her ahead of his children for which he shared custody with. She'd manufacture conflicts with the ex and with the kids who were very young just to 'test his loyalty'. She was also very stingy and emotionally cruel to the children.
She also tried to destroy his relationship with his sister and his mother by not letting him know when they called or stopped by or when they had invited them to things. All females were seen as the enemy and needed to be removed from his life. You can't imagine the pain she caused over several years. She did this quite covertly and he was kept in the dark until much damage had occurred.
~A closeted gay co-worker fell in love with a very kind-hearted straight woman at work. The gay woman manufactured all kinds of reasons why she needed the help of the straight co-worker. She would be 'sick' or 'drunk and unable to drive herself', etc. She tried very hard to derail this other woman's relationship with a man.
The nice straight worker didn't understand what was up until the woman declared her love for her and said she'd kill herself if the co-worker wouldn't love her back. When the straight woman said she didn't love her like that, she then caused all kinds of issues at their mutual employer causing strife to the other woman.
I have many more examples that I have personally witnessed, but you get the idea.

I is for intersex, which is when the body didn't develop right during pregnancy and the individual can have combinations of male and female secondary sex organs, and outward characteristics may not match their chromosomal definition of gender. You may also have heard the term hermaphrodite to describe this medical situation, though I think that's more often used to describe animals.

Q is for Queer, which encompasses a general connotation of non-heteronormative sexual preferences, but isn't explicit in what those preferences are.
Under Clinton when I worked at the embassy in Iraq the whole lbgtq thing got its legs. They forced us to see it everywhere.
