Look at the second picture on this tweet. Where Trump is blocking the backlight, the stars are white. It's just the lighting. u/PeaceAndLovePatriot is right.

Blacked out? It looks like it could be metallic reflection.
Dark to light?
The flag is backlit.
The stars are embroidered.
The light won't shine through them.
So they are dark.
Occam's razor
What about the light from the front? You can see the President, you can see the flag stripes. There's plenty of bright light from the front where you should be able to see the stars, except they are blackened out. Occam's razors says you have fooled yourself.
The stars and the moon are for lighting up the nights darkness on earth. The stars also represent the United States as each state gets a star. We are after all headed for a complete blackout then the Emergency Broadcast System.

No. If it were backlit, that man’s shadow would not be visible on the flag.
If anything, the shadow area would GLOW because the man’s shadow would be blocking out the diffusion effect of the front light.
The shadow is from Trump behind the flag, not the guy in front.
Nice find. The stripes are different on this one though. On the most recent flag, the stripes appeared to be gold and metallic.
I've seen a ton of theories as to what this could mean, but the biggest takeaway is that it was deliberate and definitely has some kind of meaning.

To me, this almost looks like a preview. Kind of the heads up, so only part of the flag is shown, unlike the Youngstown Ohio display.
