Side note, I went past my local cinema multiplex around 7:30 pm Friday night (2 days ago). No more then 20-30 cars in the parking lot (mostly employees??). Pre-Covid, this place was packed on Friday nights. Out of curiosity, I reviewed the movie listings at that multiplex currently playing. I hadn't heard of a single one. I suspect I'm not the only one who cares nothing for the 'bread & circus' life any longer.
Even many of the people who still care are forced to choose between 'bread & circus' or 'fill gas tank and pay $7.99 for a pound of hamburger to cook at home'.
Yup, only time our local cinema parking lot was full was for Top Gun this past summer!!

It's also a dark comedy. Kubrick's wry sense of humor really shines through in his final film. After his wife disses him, Dr. Bill tries to get laid but the only ones giving him a chance are are faggots, the clingy relative of a dying patient, a whore with AIDS, the teenage daughter of the costume shop owner....none of whom he wants to do it with. Then the final scene is him and his wife deciding to go home and do it with each other. An instant classic.
