My brother and I had this discussion awhile back about how most people today look and walk like absolutely slobs. Very few have any pride about their appearance out in public and it's very lacking in the workplace.
I went through a faith based rehab, spent 16 months in house to graduate, dress code and heavy rule set. Every Sunday and Wednesday we’d suit up. Twice on sundays. Look good feel good, do good. surrounded by other men all dressed their best. It matters. It resonates your life to be orderly.
Sometimes the cheat code to dressing nicely for work is to have cheaper suit materials for day to day (that you can clean yourself) and for important days (meetings, interacting with clients if that is part of your job description, etc.) bring out the nicer suit.
You can make a properly cut cheap suit look good for normal work days, and still have your "look like a million bucks" attire waiting in the wings for important stuff.
This also helps keep you from having to buy a ton of different high end suits that only people who actually care will notice.
Bonus points if you're the only one in your job looking professional. It'll make you look even nicer in comparison to the rest.
I never once wore a suit to work in the law office, although the male lawyers did. At the beginning, I wore short sleeve sport shirts, usually plaid. Then management said, even though clients would never see me, I would have to wear a tie. So I bought a stack of white short sleeve shirts and a crap load of ties, many of them either ugly or funny or holiday. I could go for months without repeating a tie. One had the Coke polar bears. Another one was a super wide one I had leftover from the early 70s. It covered half the front of my shirt, almost a clown tie. I was following the rules.
A lot depends on the type of industry you are in, but overall, things have gotten very sloppy over the years. Before business casual took off, my SIL worked for a high end clothing store and I got her discount. I had a great wardrobe and the quality of it compared to the rags you get today was striking.
That said, my family owns a dry cleaner and my mom commented that as people are going back to work, the quality of clothes has improved. Lots and lots of dresses over the summer and while it may not be suit and ties, men are going back to a more traditional business casual with button down shirts. I think everyone is sick of sweatpants. Friend of mine is back in the office and she said she actually feels better getting dressed in 'work clothes'.
Yea I was gonna say, it’s enjoyable getting dressed up. I’m in construction so my attire isn’t as important, just needs to be durable. As I’m typing this from the knee down I’m covered in mud. But on Church Sundays I get on the shiny shoes and slick pants. Nice shirt with buttons. It feels good. And afterwards we sometimes go out to eat or to the store. People notice. They give you that, “we’ll be looks nice” look. I absolutely recommend people getting dressed up a bit weekly, or daily even. 👍
I agree i was looking at some old film of my City shot in the early 1900's Everybody is well dressed. Hats shirts ties, the women in nice dresses and hats.
Now it looks like a slob convention.
I was in traffic court ~25 years ago, and was amazed at how clueless people are when it comes to appropriate dress! I'm pretty disappointed that people dress so sloppily when they go to church. I don't expect suits and ties, but you are there presumably to worship God, so you would think people would be a little more concerned with their appearance (yeah, yeah, "God doesn't look at the outer person, He looks at the inner"). I guess the point I'm making is, the people who dress sloppily for church would probably make an effort to look decent if they were in front of a judge.
And thank you for the .. “my friend” sentiment … I needed that ! Some real tough times the last few weeks , GA among other positives is a good distraction
So is this a high jacked account ? A joke ? Surely he didn’t say this or mean it ? As much as I love this , it can’t be true … correct? BUT .. Even as a joke this is great ,,,
As the great Terrence Popp says " that bright colored hair is like a Brazilian dart frog, poisonous stay away."
Excellent quote, Fren! The word describing that phenomenon is 'aposematism'. Apply it well in everyday life, fellow frogs!
Love that word, use it all the time (when appropriate, of course)

A man of Popp culture I see.
LOL!
Popp is an awesome dude!
Required dress should be consistent with the 50’s.

I see University kids in my city…getting on the bus dressed in the jammy pants…pink fuzzy pants with “my kitty” on them.
Workplace…we have to constantly send out memos….telling people not to wear crocks paired with sweatpants. This is NOT work attire.
Casual Fridays… as you can imagine ….are a complete shite-show.
75ºF and 100% humidity at 7am wearing a suit. Already sweating and swamp ass is on the horizon. I'd rather stick with business casual all the time.

Check out dry cleaning solution. It is a nasty, toxic chemical in which your clothes are swished around in the filth of everyone else’s clothes.
They filter it as many times as they can before they have to dispose of it as hazardous waste.

Sadly it is a Provincial Government Office Tower.

Fetterman
In his jammies, on stage, with Obama. Hideous.

I saw Fetterman at his rally dressed in his jammies and walking around like a zombie. He was sad looking.
Chortle :)

...think he'll make an exception if that blue has fifty white stars in it and has 13 red and white stripes going down the back?😂
Such simple Wisdom in his method.
Shit post. Stop post fake shit. It makes everyone look bad.
Fake. Poster should have denoted that. Poster is suspect.
Love it
Can't believe anything you read on Twitter, ever again
It's all fake until proven otherwise - and good luck with that
