When I was in line I had my phone out watching the wifi networks. The lady directing people told me I had to turn my phone off. Gave her a blank stare, told my wife and others around me in line she doesn't want me looking at the wifi networks the machines are connected to. I continued to watch as I signed in and voted. F them.
Any device with a wifi antenna could do such a scan, provided it has the right software. I'm not exactly a tech expert but I do have aps like that from tech support home wifi and installing repeaters so I could get better signal in various parts of the house. If you're in an apartment, there may be many networks interfering, and use of software like that can be helpful in figuring out the best places for your wireless router/gateway, etc.
I don't think the OP is suggesting the use of packet sniffing software. We don't really care what data is being trafficked on the networks. We're simply looking for wifi networks on the voting machines themselves that shouldn't be there because they're not supposed to be wifi enabled.
Or bring that 5 year old phone sitting in your drawer that doesn't have service. Sure it will still ping towers, etc, but harder to peg to a certain political affiliation.
Every person who doesn’t bring a phone means an unknown of two votes.
They can still count Rs and Ds by the check in voter roles. But that would mean automated reporting on election equipment or a manual process. Any private company that can get your phones location could send that data much safer.
I used a network sniffer while I was voting. I'm IT, but networking is my weakness.
My poll location was in the local library, so there's a bunch of wi-fi devices anyways. But there was one machine to collect electronic signatures (which was new - they used to always have people sign physically in a book), and one machine to count ballots. I don't think the signatures were linked to the ballots in any way, which I also think was new and odd.
The wi-fi devices, most were labeled library or library guest. There were 11 labeled as "hidden". Of those hidden, a couple were "Cisco Meraki" and the rest said "N/A". There was one that was "Hon Hai Precision Ind. Co., Ltd." That company is also known as Foxconn. Not sure if any of this is something to report or seems all legitimate. 🤷♀️
Exactly! The ones that don't want you to see if they are using wifi, and don't want anyone taking pics or to look up info pertaining to what's on your ballot. Husband and I always look up things on ballots when we didn't have time to look up beforehand. This time we did look up things that they said would be on ballots, but I'm still bringing my phone with me.
You know they're just going to say the same thing they did in 2020: "None of the polling equipment was connected to it". And then deny all requests to examine the logs of the systems that might be able to prove otherwise while they clear up any evidence.
"They" meant well - I saw that post. The idea was if you bring your phone the apps that track everything you do and everywhere you go can easily tell Big Tech that YOU went to a polling place and likely voted. Most people have all kinds of social media and other crap on their phones, and all of their posts are tracked - so Big Tech can probably guess 100% what political persuasion you are from your fakebook posts to your aunt.
It would be trivial to look at the conservatives stopping at polling places, count them, and know how many ballots they need to create to nullify your votes. IMO that idea to leave your phones at home is a sound one. Most people don't know what they are doing with trying to report wifi networks anyway. It could cause more harm than good if a bunch of people start going to the sheriff and reporting they saw some SSID.
Cyber people - use your laptop or a wifi analyzer, leave your phone at home, and go scan. If we want people to do something like this, we need them to actually know what they are looking for and what to report.
Some here on GAW. But I'm bringing mine with me. Sometimes you need to look up things on the ballot. And looks like a few people are checking the wifi situations at their polling places. Above someone pointed out maybe people are saying not to bring them, so we don't check for wifi connections.

it's psy ops to keep you from tracking wifi or taking pics/vids.
My voting location had printer paper signs saying "No cell phones permitted" and one poll worker told a lady that answered her phone that phones were not allowed.
Could they possibly be using bluetooth to connect to the net or would that still show up as wifi?? Could we put our phones on airplane mode and not be tracked?
They made us turn off phones before they would let us in. I didn't take mine because I'd read that they track and change votes thru them but there were lots of people with phones being told to turn them off.
I thought we weren't supposed to bring phones because they can track our whereabouts and be able to adjust their algorithms?
Edit: there probably are not enough Anons on this Board to make any difference regarding their traffic-watching. So, disregard my note above.
came here to say this. it's psy ops to keep you from tracking wifi or taking pics/vids.
and don't underestimate our power as trendsetters. us>pw>normie conservatives> etc..

I took screen shots of the wifi, what am I looking for? I saw a wifi for the elections labeled "yav elections".
I didn't see anything election related but they were probably hidden.
Precisely! Become ungovernable!
In my country the reason to ban phones/cameras in the voting booth, is to prevent forced or bought votes.
Exactly.
A phone will not tell you ANYTHING about Wifi shenanigans. This takes different software and possibly hardware to sniff out real WiFi issues.
They want to make sure you bring your phone to the poling place.

You can use a tablet or laptop to scan for wifi, you don't need a phone for that.
Or bring that 5 year old phone sitting in your drawer that doesn't have service. Sure it will still ping towers, etc, but harder to peg to a certain political affiliation.

Ugh. I just realized I only looked at the 2.4 ghz band. Didn't realize the network sniffer app has a button to switch over to 5 ghz. Dang it.
wow at Hon Hai...so dumb of them
They produce a lot of electronic devices out of Taiwan, so not sure if it's something that should be reported or not.
I would absolutely report all of that. Put it on the record.
And report to Sheriffs departments too
Good point. We're seeing that sheriffs depts (in general) are much more willing to get involved than the state board of elections.
I’m sorry, but what polling places don’t allow phones? That’s complete bullshit. Why not?

I was on my phone and no one said anything to me. Even had it out with my ballot to screenshot.
I am going back to my polling place after work and checking wifi because I forgot earlier today.

If you have the ability, CHECK FOR HIDDEN NETWORKS!! They’re not that stupid, they won’t be broadcasting an SSID
They may be that stupid. My polling place had a bunch of brand new "BROADCOM-GUEST" networks that I'd never seen there before.
Granted I'm in a blue state, so they probably wouldn't expect us to check.
Trying to report wifi fuckery in my hometown and support clean elections is not FUCKING WORKING!!! Wifi from last night to today completely different.
Wifi networks can also be hidden btw.
You can still see the traffic with a wifi analyzer app, its impossible to hide it.
This is a waste of time. Wifi networks dont have to be "discoverable"
Which means you would need to run a program that can pick up these hidden networks. Likely they would use that to cheat
You know they're just going to say the same thing they did in 2020: "None of the polling equipment was connected to it". And then deny all requests to examine the logs of the systems that might be able to prove otherwise while they clear up any evidence.
They told everyone not to take their phones. They said their phones can be picked up and their votes switched that way.
Who’s “they”?

Bring a camera instead.
You could use a laptop or tablet to scan for wifi.
Pennsylvanian here, I’ll be going soon and reporting back with anything I find.
My voting location had printer paper signs saying "No cell phones permitted" and one poll worker told a lady that answered her phone that phones were not allowed.
Of course, we wouldn't want you recording videos of "faulty touchscreens" changing key Republican votes to Democrat ones now, would we?
No need for citizen vigilance when we have facebook fact checkers. :p
Could they possibly be using bluetooth to connect to the net or would that still show up as wifi?? Could we put our phones on airplane mode and not be tracked?
Whoever sets up the network can name it whatever he wants.

Do not comply.
Checked mine, seemed legit, took a screenshot on my phone anyway.
