This guy is completely outlandish, but eventually republicans will install someone who is also similarly mentally ill, but not quite as outlandish and will support conservative policies. Think of a Blaire White type of person. He'll get support from conservatives for supporting their policies while also "proving" they're not "transphobic."
From there, it's done. This shit will be normalized, and the conversation will no longer be about whether it's ok or not, but about what degree of it is ok and in what contexts.
