I agree but this post is dumb. Because they are carrying guns and anyone carrying a gun should be proficient with its use and safe handling. The real question is why are IRS agents being issued guns. I think we all know the answer to that, it came with their Brown Shirt.

Why do they have guns at all? I don't think ANY federal entity should have guns other than the military. They should work through the state/local governments.

Unions argued they must be armed. Why? Because armed agents get LEO compensation and LEO pensions.
Those pensions are worth BANK. Thus, they have to carry, they have to train, they have to qualify.
Prior to recent years and Joes 87,000 agents. The IRS did maintain a force of armed agents.
For the most part they served as Security at IRS facilities/offices. And some would be dispatched to supervise or lead field investigations. Primarily though as far as I was aware they relied on State and Local police. Or other Federal Agencies to do the “kick in the door” parts while they sat back and did the number crunching.
