Pretty ironic that our House can take a persons vote, have a few people write down the vote on a piece of paper and then tally the results immediately following. Wish there was a way We the People could vote on paper ballots with same day results..

Don't bring this to their attention. They might just bring Dominion in to count the house votes.

This entire process just seems stoopid. Cant they give everyone 2 minutes and a piece of paper, instruct them to check a box, then tally and done? Why do they have to do this role call thing? Seems like a colossal waste of time.
Making them announce it out loud in front of everyone on the record has more accountability.

I would love to see him as speaker but not now. He has several trials hanging over his head, rallies, primaries and caucuses coming up, and everything we hope he is doing in the background. We need him to concentrate on those things for the good of the country.
an amazing run of 100 days or so as SOTH would do more for him than campaigning IMHO and not sure but if he's SOTH lawsuits might have to be stayed to not interfere with congressional business. plenty of time after short stint as SOTH to focus on campaigning. people voting for Trump in 2024 are not fooled by the usual antics of politics I don't think

It could take weeks or even months. They have to keep voting until someone gets to 217.
Some Republicans would have to vote for Jeffries for him to get to 217. If that happens, all hell will break loose. Then again, when all hell breaks loose anyway, they might want Jeffries taking the heat for it.
I would be perfectly happy to shut the government down until Jordan gets the votes. I don't care if it takes months.
Yeah, it sounds great and all, until you realize our military service people most likely won't get their paychecks or bonuses until the shutdown is over.
This is a horrible time to toss that burden on top of everything else going on right now.

They will all get back pay. My household would have zero income if there is a shutdown, to include my son who is active duty. Do what it takes. I'm perfectly fine with that. If the choice is a shutdown or another POS RINO in charge I'll take the shutdown.

But many, if not most, military families are living paycheck to paycheck. Inflation is hitting them hard, just like everyone else.
So, while I'm glad that your family will be ok, I still sympathize with the millions of people in the military who will be burdened by all this nonsense(along with the support families who also won't be getting paid, like overseas school staff for military families in foreign countries).
A few months with no pay is going to pale in comparison to when the dollar and all the banks completely crash. Which is inevitable at this point. All the worthless dollars in the world won't buy you a loaf of bread or a gallon of gas. Better to get someone in charge now who is able and willing to handle a crisis of that magnitude than another RINO who won't do anything at all.

Same thing happened when they voted for McCarthy. Jeffries will not get to 217 votes unless some Republicans vote for him. And that would be the kiss of death for them. So it’s not gonna happen.

No worries. If that does actually happen - for either side - in any of the rounds of voting it will make major news. I tried to keep up with the vote live but it is nearly impossible unless you have a checklist of all of the members. I'm not doing that - I'll count to seven and wait for the next round and the news to give me a list of RINOs. Maybe you heard Scalise?
I do know what you are talking about though - there were a couple of outbursts of applause from both sides but I think they were for whenever a threshold was met keeping one or the other from getting to 217. Remember both sides have a record of the secret ballots so they are keeping track.
