This may sound a bit strange to some people, but I'm a little distraught right now. My cat recently injured her tail very badly. After thinking about it, I think someone, maybe a neighbor, stepped on it and she tried to pull away and it yanked her tail out of its place. She has a really high fracture and is having her whole tail amputated tomorrow morning. I dropped her off at the vet this morning and they are afraid she may have some nerve damage and may not be able to control her bladder/anus muscles very well. Worst case she may have to be manually relieved for the rest of her life. She's only 5 years old. I pray that's not the case. She hasn't showed issues of that so the worry is that the surgery may be complicated because it's such a sensitive area.
She's at a major university vet school ICU so she's in good hands but the cost is going to be unbearable to me. 5-6k. All going on a credit card. I am already at the end of my financial rope. I make less than 1k a month and barely scraping by trying to save up anything I can. I don't know if anyone can help me find a better job, but I'll take just about anything, willing to relocate, freelance IT work, etc.
This is Princess. I pray that the surgery go well tomorrow and for Princess to be able to live a normal life again. Also help me find a way to pay for this and to find a more productive occupation.

Did a quick search on financial aid for pet emergency services. The university's clinic may have options, including their own fund. There's a list at The Animal Foundation (page title is "Financial Aid for Pets"). Another site mentions something called Scratchpay in addition to Care Credit (I've used the latter for emergency vet care). Others here may have suggestions.

I've been working on getting my credit back in shape last few years, not sure if it's a good idea to get a new card right now. I have enough to cover it on my existing card but I just need to worry about paying it off.
She looks like my baby Julie I lost a few years ago. She had a spinal tumor that got to her brain and had very similar problems and we had to massage her colon and walk her on a leash outside so she would pee and poop. Just remember, the money will come. Don't be afraid to spend it. I know this pain probably the best, so I'll be the first to tell you your heart is in the right place. Don't feel ashamed.

Prayers for you. At the shelter I used to volunteer at, there was a cat who had tail damage from having it caught in an engine. She had difficulty with defecation (the poop would fall out) but was otherwise in good shape. Eventually, she found a forever home with a loving girl and her mom.

My aunt who lived in a small income who loved animals pad to take her to her dogs vet. Dr Pane. (Seriously there were 2 doctors in the practice. Dr Pane and Dr Panek kek) everything was cheaper then. No lasting issues. She used to twirl the stumb when she was annoyed🤗 I'll be praying for you and your beloved Princess I can definitely feel for your situation. We're SO happy for you and your family! What a relief to hear that everything went well and she'll be home soon. She'll be excited to be home with you and your family. You may want to keep her inside where the world is safer. All of our kitties were rescues from parking lots, etc. and now they are inside and never want to go out.

Yeah she will have to be indoor for a while, hopefully not forever. She loves the outdoors and she is/was a really good climber. She would often climb up on the roof of the carport and wait for me to come home from work. My cats are all from the same litter, mom and 3 sisters. Princess is one of the sisters. I had them with me when I was living in my car in the woods because no landlord would accept 4 cats. They all are used to being outside and they still sometimes catch mice and eat them. Princess prefers birds.

Thanks for asking. Yes, she's been recovering really well. I brought her home yesterday and she peed in my lap during the ride, but that's understandable because they had her on a fentanyl IV. Since she got home she's been doing good. She still has good control of her faculties so she's able to use the litter box on her own and not having any accidents. She's lamenting having to stay inside though and the other cats are looking at her funny.
So happy to hear she's functioning well with no issues! Praying for you, Princess and your other kitties! You deserve a wonderful life life for your kind heart! 🙏💕

Yeah I've tried those sites but it hasn't worked out for me. I'm very bad at self promotion and working social media. also finding the right people. It'd be nice if I could get a team together for specialized web development, which is what I want to do, but I'm more of a visionary and trying to work on building out my own ideas.

It's funny how cats can have an impact on us. I was never a cat person growing up, and really didn't like them at all. About 20-25 years ago, we got our first cat, a tortoiseshell, as a kitten (also named Princess!) and she really, really grew on me. We ended up having to put her down after about 15 years, as she had cancer. There was also another cat, who wandered up and adopted us. I really didn't like him at first, because he was mostly an outdoor cat, and we didn't understand him very well. Once we figured him out, he and I became the best of friends. Unfortunately, our next door neighbor backed over him, and killed him. We came home one evening, and there he was standing next to our driveway, bawling his eyes out. He really loved our cat, too, and I know he didn't do it on purpose. I helped him understand that I wasn't angry with him, and then he helped me bury our little furry friend in the back yard.
Prayers do help with our pets.

If you make less than 12k a year and you're going to put 6k on a credit card, you can't afford to help this animal. you're going to be homeless really soon. how can you feed yourself if you are paying interest like this? how can you even get a 6k limit on less than 12k a year? this whole thing is either bullshit or you're delusional.

Hey. I had a cat named Princess when i was younger. I can probably imagine based on the name that she probably acts similar to my old cat. We sure do put a lot of love into our pets and we do so much for them but remember that God put them here to bring us joy and companionship not to ruin us financially. All that being said I pray in the name of the Father, Son Jesus and Holy Spirit that despite the amputation she will live a long and healthy life free of complications. Amen
