Do you really think they're actually running him in the end? It makes much more sense to me to make people think it's another Trump versus Biden election and once people have resigned themselves to it swap the corpse out with someone totally different and deny Trump's team months worth of time to expose the dirty secrets of whomever is actually their choice while rejuvenating the interest of everyone who dislikes Trump or Biden or both.

Right, so if they know Trump has it and it being 2022 at the time with digital photography, document scanners, and photocopiers all readily available what's the urgency to get it back? Did they hope nobody bothered to look at it and that they had no idea what it was? Seems unlikely you'd request documents without knowing what they'd likely contain and then take them with you.
Some people have near photographic memories. Pretending that the administrations "documents" are at all important is a pure distraction. Which is why they had to bring NARA in to make it all seem officious enough to be worthy of even being mentioned.

Trump has proof the DS targeted him in both elections, specifically the CIA along with the Bushes, Clintons, State Dept, Justice Dept, and DOD and FBI to an extent. He's also got the original copy which means it's unaltered and irrefutable proof. It's the whole reason for "panic in DC", like holding a silver dagger to a vampires chest.
