US household income by ethnic group. What an eye opener, yet it’s not surprising.

That's a pretty amazing graph, assuming it is accurate, too.
The question I would like to answer is what percent of spending by each ethnic group is spent at a business that is owned by someone of the same ethnic background?
My hunch (just my personal opinion, in other words) is that whites seem to have melted the most in this pot and spend on whatever from whomever, whereas other ethnic groups keep more of their spending within their own ethnic group. It's a hypothesis based on my travels. And, there's nothing wrong with that!!
This chart sure puts a new perspective on the white privilege bullshit. Where's my appropriation as a white man who is now suffering because of all of these other ethnic groups doing better than me? Sarcasm, of course.
I agree with your position. I've seen it a lot. Some would call it racism, other times its out of convenience and community.
And it's too bad that some think of it as racism. There is nothing wrong with a Little Italy, or a Chinatown, etc. There is nothing racist about loving your culture.
Depending on exact region of origin, some of these places still hold an anti-American sentiment.
True. And that is a different type of challenge. It is not racism.
Just ignorance. I would blame most things on governments.
Most, as in 99.5%.
I’ve seen areas taken over by different ethnic groups. They drove the white businessmen out because they would only do business with their chosen ethnicity. This was 20+ years ago.
I went to a Indian grocery store nearby my usual one as an Indian coworker told me that they have better and cheaper produce than the other stores in the area. I must have been one of only a dozen non-Indians in the entire building. Strangely though if I go to the Mexican grocery store near my house there's almost more whites than Latinos in there, then again since there's a lot more light-skinned Latinos than Hollywood portrays it's easy for them to be mistaken for dark haired whites.
This could be! I'm married to a Hispanic man and our kids skin color is in between our skin color. I'm very white and my husband is brown but in the summer he can tan darker. Same with our kids, they become pretty pale during the winter months and when summer comes, they just tan, don't really get sun burn, if they do by the next day it's gone and have a tan. I just burn then freckle up, lol. All 3 of the kids have dark brown hair, I use to have a lighter-dark brown hair (now just grey), husband had very dark brown - black hair (now salt and pepper). People always wonder though, what nationality they are. Our kids think it's funny, because no one ever guesses that they are part Puerto Rican, lol. I think it's because their hair is dark and they aren't quite "brown".
Oddly enough, of the 3 of us in our household, all being different ethnic groups. (White, Hispanic, and Filipino) All three of our incomes match up almost perfectly, and maybe off by just a couple thousand at most of each. So it's strangely accurate at least in terms of our personal situation.
Israeli isn't on there. how odd
That's exactly what I thought. If you want to know who controls you...
Keep in mind some context, 1st generation immigrants and Asian household's tend to contain more than 2 income earners, sometimes 3 generations worth. This significantly brings up the household income.
Yep, I have a Chinese friend who's family moved over when he was three. His parents moved into his house with his wife and kid. I know Indian families who are the same way as the grandparents are the babysitter for the grandkids but run their own side businesses from home. I also knew H1-Bs who had several roommates who also were on work visas all in the same rented house.
Also they tend to have well-paying jobs vs the Latinos where you often see a household with 6 cars in the driveway and ten people living there with maybe a third of them making minimum wage.
Exactly. Alternatively, there is a house buying method that me and my siblings are apart of. We all buy a house together. 2 put 100% (subtract savings) of their take home pay into the house while 1 uses it for groceries and living. Pay the house of in 2 - 4 years and buy another house. Over and over.
That's primarily Silicon Valley. 73% of tech workers are H1-B visa holders.
Same in Seattle bro. And they are fucking up apartments and condos by cooking curry all the fucking time! Seriously searching for apartments can be a nightmare because if the previous residents were east Indian it permanently smells like fucking curry.
Source says 2013-2015 … wonder what it is now.
Probably pretty similar.
Asian parents raise their children with high expectations. The rest of us, it seems, not so much?🤣
The Indians are predominantly H1B Visa workers, many unqualified, that have been brought over and trained by the white person they replace. And somehow I dont believe that the median is 100k. The subs I build in Oakland County Michigan are chock full of new Indian homeowners buying in the 700k range.
For sure the breadwinner is making good money but the household usually goes three generations deep with 5 to 10 residents. The H1B worker comes here and is then able to get his entire family moved with him, including grandparents and siblings. You will see grandma and grandpa, husband and wife, a brother or sister or two and then kids.
This is purely anecdotal and my personal observations working in these subdivisions from dawn to dark all summer long, 6 days a week. And their cooking stinks. Hate it when a sub all fires up the grills when we are all starving but its better than the stink of Indian food.
I also want to make clear that these are good people as far as I can tell. I do a lot of sidejobs for them when they are moved in and they are very friendly. But I dont think they are here to assimilate into American culture.
Proof that there's no "hwight supremacy".
Nonetheless This should not divide us.
This is also part of why they lump in the Asians and Indians as "white adjacent".
They set the boundary pretty high for migrants in terms of education and qualification and only when they can be proven exceptionally good compared to locals they would be hired and brought in from abroad. This is at least theoretically and to some extent is followed and that explains higher incomes earned by migrants (assuming data above is correct). Of course now anything goes with immigration and the whole system is totally fucked.
So is this saying a college degree is necessary to succeed in America? If that is so then why are a lot of people saying that college isn't necessary now? And why is Joe Biden paying off the loans of college kids that probably can afford to make their own payments? Or at least their parents can.
2013-15 data? Is there nothing newer out?
They need to add Native Americans (Indians) so as to not confuse the morons among us.
What ethnic group is "The Average American"?
I suppose that's supposed to be the average income.
Seems that without including people from Israel, the picture can't be clear.
No wonder they lump in the Asians and Indians as "white adjacent".
Having standards is white supremacy
