John Deere announces mass layoffs in Midwest amid production shift to Mexico
John Deere has announced another wave of layoffs Friday, telling around 610 production staff at plants in Illinois and Iowa that they will be out of a job by the end of the summer.
Breaking New, January 20, 2025
President Donald Trump slaps massive tariffs on John Deere tractors produced in Mexico.
You would think John Deere would figure this out.
A lack of brain cell activity seems to be going on, and not just with Biden. The Democrats are "surprised" that Biden is a zombie?
They won't let you fix them either way.
...just one more reason I despise JD
Wont look like a good idea once Trump puts all those tariffs on there products!
i hope that bankrupts them and the USA finds a better and cheaper tractor.
Now they won't even assemble the parts made in Chyna in the US. :-(
And they will still be more expensive than most.
Juan Deereno.
They'll be back in 6 months when tarriffs make it too expensive not to produce them here. Just wait until then dumbasses...(Deere...wait to move)
we don't want them back, traitors.
Corporations do not and have never had Americans best interest in mind.
They are here to make money, and will throw you under the bus without hesitation to do so
They need some harsh ass penalties for pulling shit like this
Why? How about as a consumer you just don't support them and let their corporation die?
I once bought a car made in Mexico. A small mercury. The most expensive lemon I have ever purchased. Does Mexico spring to mind when you think engineering and craftsmanship? Just saying.
One of the bigger issues isn't so much that car is built in Mexico, the auxiliary parts suppliers also move to Mexico to make their parts cheaper.
So now you have a car that is assembled at a lower quality standard, at a factory that is usually newer and inexperienced, by a culture of people that don't generally don't aspire to do things correctly, with a bunch of parts made by suppliers that have the same issues but at a smaller scale which means the chances of excessive lack of quality are that much higher.
That is why the move to Mexico is usually such a poor choice. Plus, when you have a quality issue it's much harder to find and fix.
It's not a BMW or even a pontiac. It's like their pottery.
I have 3 JD tractors, all older models circa model year 2000. Newer machines are spoiled by the EPA forcing all kinds of emissions garbage onto them. I've looked at JD tractors and orange ones. The orange ones are lacking some very important features.
On another note, I paid a small fortune to fix the emissions garbage on my newer Diesel Jeep. I'll put on a DEF delete kit when the repair warranty nears expiration. The EPA focus this garbage on the manufacturers. Can't wait to see the EPA go up in smoke!!!!!!
I’m in the shopping mode for a sub-compact tractor and usually buy green paint mowers (4 green paint mowers now) but just can’t seem to find the reason to spend $8-10k more than on a similar product with blue/red or orange paint.
Team Orange Paiiiiinnnttt!!!!1
hey, orange tractors bad, because.... reeeeeeeeeeeeee!
kek.
Didn't they settle a strike with their workers just a couple years ago?

Who owns John Deere now?
My snapper zero turn made in usa
bad boy zero turn, made in usa as well.
Mexico just elected a communist president... Pretty interesting timing. Trump is going to screw Mexico with teriffs for sure. My theory is that a lot of cabal monopolies are being somehow blackmailed/forced to suicide themselves. Either that or this is a cabal move to crash everyone's 401ks/the economy....
My husband retired from John Deere and I worked at the branch in Syracuse for 15 years. You are all falling for this “corporate greed” that the corrupt government uses to try to distract from their horrible policies. John Deere is a great company! They have always had factories and production in other countries. Mostly in Europe but also in Mexico. Mainly because it’s more profitable to produce machines where they sell them. Deere has always been way ahead of the game in most areas. I remember in the 70’s they pulled out of Iran just before the revolution and hostage crisis. They are a company that treats their employees and retirees great. They care very much about the American farmer as that is their bread and butter. If you read the article, farmers are hurting big time….look what our government is doing to the potato crop in Idaho. Deere has down graded their profit projections twice already this year. The moves they make with lay offs and moving production facilities is to keep the company profitable- many, many people rely on Deere for jobs, for pensions, for health care insurance and stocks in their 401K. A biggie coming up will be the EV regulations for farm equip and lawn and garden equip. Farmers will be hurting more. I’m just saying, when the media trashes these corporations, don’t be so quick to jump on their bandwagon….there is a lot you don’t know.
