I went shopping at walmart today and it was pretty busy for a weekday. Some people seemed to be loading up on items and some looked like they were only buying what they needed at the moment, however there may be a lot of people who don't know about the strike. Like my daughter's bf & his mother had no idea, so she called to tell him so he could run by the store after work to pick up some necessities.
While shopping I overheard a woman on the phone talking to someone and saying how another walmart in the next county over (which is not far away) was "wiped out" and for that person to come shop at the store she was at.
Saw quite a few people with full carts.
Has anyone else noticed anything different at your local stores? Are the shelves being wiped clean yet?
It was busy today at Walmart i agree. But it's also the 1st...SSI payments came out.
Ah, didn't even think about that.
Wife went to Sam’s and Kroger today. Can confirm. Mostly wiped out and on the way to being fully wiped out. I think TP shortages is still in the collective consciousness.
EDIT: I should add we were brushed with Helene and that could be a contributing factor.
Aldi's was out of water yesterday. I'm in N.C., about 2 hours from Ashville. I just assume it has to do with the disaster in the mountains. I don't know. I hope someone loaded up all the water and took it up there or possibly Aldi's might be diverting their water to them. They need the water more then I do right now.
Q: What's the most genocidal grocery chain?
A: All-die's
Aldi's is pretty good they have these country ribs and I like the ground pork and ground lamb 'bricks' they carry. Their cheeses are their loss leader--they have very inexpensive high quality cheeses there
I know. I hate to darken their door. I needed spring water to refresh my bread starter. I'm getting lower then I feel comfortable with. They are close to me and I don't have to get on the highway. I couldn't get the water because they were out. But, since I was there, I did up my cheese supply. I avoid Walmart. I haven't been in there in years. The only other closeby grocery store is Harris Teeter. I like their selections and I can get things like jicama, celeric root, and other produce you can't find anywhere else. But, they are woke.
Have you tried Aldi's Nuts? <got eem>
No clue. I keep TP and PT on hand. I have dry goods and water reserves. I also have fuel.
No more than any other 1st of the month when heaping carts of packaged slop get liberated via swiping their welfare card... while your ass pays full price.
Wife went to Costco today to get our monthly allotment of toilet paper and paper towels an they were completely sold ot
My husband went to Costco and said no toilet paper, water was low, and the lines were to the back of the store. Never seen it this way and it was on a weekday late in afternoon.
Yeah, my daughter went to sams today to grab some paper products, and said it's a mad house in there and paper products are almost gone. She said people are also buying up a lot of fresh meat, not so much frozen or canned stuff. She also grabbed a few other items, but didn't go overboard buying tons of stuff.
So, we know there will be a shortage of toilet paper again very soon.
Sounds like a typical Costco afternoon in Pugetopolis.
Go first thing Tuesday morning.
I’ve been stocking up for 2 weeks, we knew this was coming. A lot of people have no idea. When they find out the shelves will be cleared.
We actually sell exports more than import. We lose 6 billion a day by not exporting goods. All our perishable goods are produced domestically. You may not get your cheap Shien order or your assemble-it-yourself box furniture from China anytime soon.
That could be part of the plan
I don't order from that store or temu anyway, and don't need any furniture at the moment.
Did my normal shop at Costco and noticed TP and dry pet food pretty low. I saw some one in line with a cart full of paper and cleaning products, but don't know if it was for a household or a business.
Gas is creeping up too.
This happened well before the strike (monday). I'm in SC and both gas stations and retail box stores and groceries have been wiped just like with covid.
It's typical hoarding behavior stemming from fear. It's mostly from women demanding it of their male counterparts. Except the gas. I see mostly men hoarding gas, prob for generators. Generators needed for cpap machines and such.
NC where i live is is crippled. I'm stuck in SC and unable to get back to my home. I don't know if my home will even be there. (I could use your blessings)
Gas in upstate SC (spartanburg, greeville) is wiped out. Cash only because power was down and running on generators. Many places that have gas only had 87 octane and limited supply of ethanol free, which many people do not know, is safe to use in a ice engine in say an emergency (cleaner actually)
This hoarding behavior is really shameful but again we don't know their situation or their use. I wanted to grab up a bunch of water bottles and take them up to Asheville but no gas means I wouldn't be able to do the return trip
So I'm waiting and staying out of the way lest i become another liability and problem for them up there. It's so frustrating and demoralizing...not being able to do anything
The strike is a pile on and I hope that ILA union leader gets whacked by someone soon. Yes I'm saying I hope someone murders him to death. He's a bad man. Read the gateway pundit article.
Hope you'll be able to get back to your home soon and that there won't be damage. Praying for you.
What's really funny is Target was wiped the F out just like with covid. No chips, candy, cookies, or even weirdly non dairy creamers. All the frozen, all the fresh, all gone.
But the fruits were totally untouched. The healthiest thing that I would argue is the only 'real' food was totally untouched by the hoarde.
I had to giggle at the non dairy creamers...it's pumpkin spice coffee season, yano ;)
3 Publix in columbia SC was wiped also, but they were trying to restock as fast as they were being depleted. Scourge of locust ville there. There's the black publix on harbison (all black managers and employees), the broad pubs and college pubs in the vista
Same with walmart...worse actually
Longshoreman strike has some people scared also.
People have no comprehension of how maritime logistics works, never mind what is actually going on with this ILA strike. They're busy worrying about sportsball and the next exciting propagandatainment franchise mindf!ck release.

Look at imported commodity foods. Those are what will be in short supply. Things that are grown or made in South America, Africa, Europe and imported. Around 50% of all U.S. agricultural imports are products like fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, and more. Examples;
Coffee Cocoa or chocolate Sugar Bananas Grapes Pineapple Beef Fish
Get ready for stores running out.
Too soon, still lots of food. The storm probably had more of an impact.
Stores look normal around here, but I live in a very small town in a very red state.
There are plenty of other ways to get staples around here, plenty of family farms and ranches.
Local Sam's Club was wiped out of paper products yesterday.
Pretending a strike that just started has affected Anything today is stupidity. If FEAR and stupid wants to fear buy let them because a 'shipping' strike will only affect Imported products and will not affect your Food.
start eating cream of wheat and weirder flavors of lacroix because those are hoarding resistant. No one I mean NO ONE is going to hoard frikkin' cream of frikkin wheat.
I literally eat pounds of oatmeal weekly.
my wife loves cream of wheat, I do oatmeal.
I like cream of wheat! It’s actually on my list of items I stock up on.
Enjoy the glyphosate effects.
