Also, pulling closer to God wouldn't hurt the doomers any. "Fear not".
Being realistic, as you say, does not preclude differences of opinions, but one gets to choose their own perspective where it comes to hope vs despair. I know we're all tired even here in our armchair/spectator positions (vis-a-vis those on the front lines) as battles rage across the country and the world, but being able to step back emotionally is an asset as we try to understand what's going on.
