Why is anything in this country in Spanish? Those that don't speak English are not supposed to be in this country as residents. Any real immigrant that can't speak English does not pass the test to become a citizen.
All these TV and radio stations, ads, government documents should only be in English. I shouldn't have to push a button for English when I make a phone call to some business or government office.
Hm. Indians should probably get theirs in their language - feather, not dot, ones. While they mostly need to be bilingual it's good to keep those languages alive, having people who can speak some minor not well known language can sometimes become useful so it should be encouraged. Remember the Navajo code talkers?
Oh yeah - we might need a number dedicated to some of those Cajuns down in Louisiana. Not because they can't understand or speak English, but because some of us can't understand a damn thing they say.
I agree with this 95%. The one part I don't agree with is: " Those that don't speak English are not supposed to be in this country as residents."
There are legal residents that aren't yet citizens. Some are working on their citizenship and some may only be here on a work visa or that TPS temp protected status thing. Theoretically there could be one or 2 that are true real asylum seekers. They would need govt documents in their language just like we would in the same situation.
That said - there should NEVER be any reason for ballots to be in anything other than English in the USA. I think that is why some blue cities let everyone vote in their local elections - to get people used to allowing everyone to vote. I also agree there should be no other languages for commercials on TV or Radio. If they want to do that, put them on Telemundo.
BTW - If everyone started pressing "0" if they say press 1 for English or 8 for Spanish and the companies were forced to have an operator answer they would stop that nonsense. When the operator answers tell them you don't like pressing a number to choose our official language and to make everyone else press a number for their non-official language.

Aprende inglés, imbéciles, es la forma americana.
¿No puedes hacerlo?
¡Entonces sal!
Remain in Mexico.
It's a policy. But it's also a way of life!
¡Òrale!
Massachusetts Drivers License tests have been available in at least 35 different languages for many years. I'm NOT joking.

One of them recently died. RIP.

Haha I remember a comedian asking which kind, "teepee, or Slurpee?"
And the Dogon--the elders still can read the hylogrifs(sp) in egypt.
hieroglyph - you can tell it's a Greek word from the "ph".
(Greek hieroglyphos meant "a carver of hieroglyphics.")
A question as old as time itself.
The answer is they kept pushing forward with their agenda, and we kept giving in.

Go to Dearborn Michigan. There are parts of the city where businesses only have Arabic on them.
