They've normalized corruption / money laundering and have been looting forever. You don't need to dig or be high IQ to see their net worth skyrocket as the years ( decades ) pass. They don't need to even hide it, because there's no system in place to actually catch and punish them.

We pay about 320 BILLION dollars a year for 3 million Federal employees. This does not include benefits. There are an additional 2 million+ members of the military.
Called the Americans Disabilities Act office last Spring with questions about disability access. The woman I spoke to told me the ADA office can do nothing and that complaints must be made through the DOJ. So why then does the ADA employ 360 people, including doctors if they do nothing? Bet there are hundres of agencies like this.
Tax Form 990 is a quick way to see NGOs with employees also getting paid to do social work for government. I have not looked for easy way to see federal to state to County to City money spread. You will find most bills like Inflation Reduction Act are simply Omnibus funding.
Day #1: tell all workers to report to work, anyone not showing, is fired. Make those who show, reapply for their job.

Ehhhh the wfh thing imo is very field specific. I do think the wfh model is very advantageous to raising a family if possible. Especially if you don't want the schools queering your kid
Yes, exactly this. Any job that involves sitting in front of the computer all day such as coding, accounting can be done more efficiently from home.
No fighting with traffic every single day = happier people = more productive people
AND more time to spend with family.
It's really a win win. And the company doesn't have to rent expensive buildings.

Think about how much time is wasted in the average office. Chatty Cathies constantly stopping by to say good morning, dish out gossip, asking to borrow something. Having to sing Happy Birthday to people, eat cake, and socialize. This is one reason why I despise working in an office.
Monitoring the internet traffic and actual work being done remotely is not hard at all, even ai can be trained to record and summarize. Employee#xxx- 64.7% of working hours on pron and Reddit, 13.8% of time working, 21.5% idle (no mouse movement nor typing).

There are (hopefully will be past tense) who literally moved out of state during COVID without telling management. They claim they “can’t go into the office”. Seems to me they abandoned their job.
My team is on site everyday, no excuses- including snow storms.
Problem is they are not disciplined enough to do it. It only works with dedicated employees. We call the “at home” people and we hear them in carpool lines, yelling at kids, ordering food at the drive through… Great in theory to reduce office space, but the average American can’t do it.
They can also smoke dope and watch cartoons all day,they are never drug tested.....
Not all agencies and departments are like this. We are on a random drug test system many others are too, however, many are not.

Federal employees are being fully watched. Equipment has camera, microphone, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi just like any Microsoft, Apple, or Google device in your homes and work.

What if DHS kicked everybody over Covid to remote work to fully take over GSA building? Also many did not cheat. Also 2nd job is acceptable if not federal overlapping responsibilities.
To take it a step further, we taxpayers pay for the upkeep and maintenance of said barely used federal buildings.

As long as the work is getting done and the quality of work is equal to what it would be in an office, it shouldn't matter if they're working from home.
And if their productivity and quality of work isn't up to the same level as those working in an office, they should be fired.

Not to mention the risk to national security due to using unsecured systems linked to the internet. Not a good idea.
I do support work for a bank so not national security but still very sensitive data. They hated the idea of anyone working outside of physically secured premises. In the end they had to moderate that attitude because of cost (getting support people to the office in the middle of the night is not cheap) then of course the fake pandemic sealed the working from home deal.
We're fully remote now and I like working from home. Do I goof off? Well yes if things are quiet but I would have done that in the office anyway.
Where state actors are concerned, especially China, remote work is an Achilles heel. If places like China are able to hack sensitive on site facilities like the US government, it is even easier for them to hack off site data due to its inherent lack of security. Think of the ramifications to multiple sectors of our cyber infrastructure, including finance and business. There already has been severe breaches of critical information in the business sector. China has no problems with cyber espionage and outright theft of intellectual property. The effort to cut costs and acquiescence to changing attitudes about the work place may be our very undoing. The recent uptick in breaches from foreign actors may only be a drop in the bucket for what may be coming.
A person has to be very disciplined to remote work. But, I do agree that the idea of working from home does have its advantages. My field unfortunately does not allow that option - direct patient care. Although in medical support areas like insurance billing and coding, there is quite a bit of it now being done remotely. I have a cousin that does medical coding at home. It works great for her so primarily so she can supervise the care of my aunt and uncle who are in their 90s. Have a great day fren.
PIV cards used in Government-issued computers show when you are logged in and go into sleep mode after, say, 15 minutes of inactivity. The worker accesses emails, video chats/IM, conference calls, training resources, etc. Yes, it IS possible to do a 40 hour week teleworking and get the job done.
There is no doubt that work can be done remotely if one thinks just about the work itself. The risk comes into play because remote access increases the points to which data breaches can occur. It is much easier from a security standpoint to have data more centralized. I fear that our technology that has opened the door for more flexibility in the work place may at the same time be our Achilles heel.
