Jaguar hasn't been Jaguar since the original XKE and XJ6 died. At that point they lost what made them unique and they just became another badge-engineered blob-mobile
Speaking as a Jaguar-owner since 2004, I can say assuredly they are not. Along with their companion brand, Land Rover, which I have also and presently own.
Their recent history is instructive. Their ownership under Ford tutored them in modern quality control (freeing them from the jokes about Joseph Lucas being the Prince of Darkness). Tata Motors is arguably the largest producers of automobiles in the world. The then Chairman, Ratan Tata, agreed in 2008 to purchase Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford, partly out of his enthusiasm for the brands as a young man. His vision was to encourage their growth and well-being. They are doing well. They really don't need airhead advertising.
I wasn't aware that it was. Upon looking into it, it seems that it had come to that phase of its model life cycle where it needed a complete revamp (hard to imagine, but it happens) and the going-forward vision was go make it an electric model. This approach apparently soured during the development process, so the concept was abandoned. (I'm not surprised. The required battery would increase vehicle weight by about a ton or so, and that would be poison to the performance and handling desired.) And, with it, the XJ per se was abandoned, as Jaguar thought it didn't comport with their vision. Quite a downfall. I've driven one, once, and it was great. I think you honestly get most of the way there with the XF. The XF station wagon was a dream machine, but apparently no one buys station wagons any more.
Jaguar may be great, but maybe short of genius. I had thought they could have captured a lot of BMW customers with a convertible version of the XE. That would have made up for the discontinuation of the XK8, which was a grand tourer. The supposed replacement was the F-Type, but it was a Corvette-beater, not a touring car. Seats and suspension far too hard for cruising comfort. I drove one, too, and was disappointed by the discomfort.
In a way, I'm not too surprised. There are people who buy Jag XKs and people who buy Corvettes. They do not overlap. They cut off the people who wanted an XK, and someone who wants a Corvette does not want a Jaguar. If they bring back an XK counterpart, that may be a good thing.
I worked on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries years ago where we had to blow up a jaguar in an empty field. I drove the picture car to the scene and I remember my husband saying even back then that jaguar was a piece of shit, lol.
I was working freelance then and it was the original series. I remember mentioning to the DP out of Miami that the host looked pretty good for his age. He said, "That's because we shoot him through a brick wall". LOL
A lot of us did double duty on that shoot. I worked in production but that time I played a Vegas cocktail waitress. The outfit was a little snug and I found out later I was pregnant with my first son. He's now 32.
Thanks for sharing. Unsolved Mysteries was influential to me as a kid, it came on just after Rescue 911, then it was my bedtime. I used to watch it with my folks and listen to Coast to Coast AM (we had long commutes to the family farm late at night). It's no wonder I still dig for the truth and ended up here.
About 20 years ago I was an extra on One Tree Hill. My boyfriend at the time got started doing PA work through it, afaik he's still in the business. My favorite memory was when we were shooting a party scene and someone came over the bullhorn to say "hey guys, just a reminder do NOT EAT the prop pizza, it's been sitting out for 3 days, just pretend to eat it!" LOL. I have 4 kids myself, cheers to you!
Sounds like you're a Jack(lene) of all trades! We were shooting in North Carolina in a warehouse in the summer, so just thinking of that old pizza makes me want to vomit. I remember a guy came around with a heat thermometer gun, saying it was almost too hot. But they pushed through. Craft service was good to us and Sophia Bush bought us all slushies.
Jaguar, the car for pedophiles.
you meant... "TRANNY PEDOPHILES".
also the comic punchline meme :
"BURGERS?"
They are bringing back the leaping Jaguar logo. Not on the hood but comes with a black rubber Jaguar Butt plug in the glove box.

how much did you get paid for that advert?
"That advert"? The airhead advert? Why would you mistake me for an airhead?
You are correct The cars have improved greatly
Why was the XJ discontinued?

Looks like the F Type is being retired

Am I the only who misses the days when models were actually appealing to look at?
Normaly i would say bud light these guys.
Let's just laugh at them instead.
Scrolling through the comments was definitely a good laugh, and instilled some hope for the future kek
Some of them have a nice ratio.
The new Jaguar logo looks like the Bubly logo wtf
The demasculinization of once-legendary auto brands continues, just another theater in the war against bullshit.
What a shame! The old jags were so stylish. File this in: How to kill your brand folder.

Very cool, that's still one of my favorite shows. Were you on the original series or the reboot they did later?

And in the production circle of life, that prop pizza might be recycled into prop vomit. I made some hairy vomit once for that movie The Chase.

We can all agree that Craft Services is the most important aspect of production..
F*** I remember that episode. Showed some lady standing there by the burning car. Didn't they use it in clips when they rolled the credits.
I don't remember. I vaguely remember the story, a man's corpse was found in his burned out jaguar in a field outside of Houston.
LIVE LIVID.
COPY NOTHING*
*EXCEPT COPY ALL THE LGBTQIA+! DEI
It's such an abomination, it's laughable. I'll bet Blackrock is short selling every company they destroy via forced DEI agenda.
With all the color on display Tim Shmee150 won't be able to purchase enough of them to keep them in business.
Aren't they just overpriced Fords?
Used to be. Ford sold them. An Indian company based in Mumbai owns them now (Tata motors)
get 2... one to drive and one for parts... besides.. who doesn't like a pair of tatas!!
oh yeah! I forgot.
Do not poast bewbs meme Do not poast bewbs meme.... Trying so hard not to
I wanna see bewbs meme
That explains everything.
Doesn't the phrase "Ta-ta" mean goodbye?
Goodbye Jaguar.
I kept waiting to actually see a f****** car
They're getting destroyed in the X replies and that makes my day!

Shoot me please, two head shots so the news media can call it a suicide

They went out of their way to Budweiser themselves
