It's been a while since I've looked into this type of thing so I don't remember a lot but they don't consider tents a permanent structure. If the capacity is under a certain number then the codes don't apply. This is how they get away with the migrant camps. NYC got involved once because of a fire, but otherwise there is a blind eye. Also, US citizens are scum and migrants get the attention.
If the shelter is sticks and nails, it has to meet all codes. Even if its a one room shack. It's dumb. Community crap bucket in a tent is ok, but an improper S trap on a sink? Get Out!
Not yet, but I really don't expect one. I would just be grateful if it got a YUGE spotlight by the media and the local tyrants were forced to reverse their decision. They need to be recalled! 🤬
Yes, it's much better to either live in a tent or be exposed to the elements. Typical bureaucratic government thinking. The biggest impediment to success today is interference by federal, state and local government.
Yet somehow these municipalities say its ok to live in a tent on a sidewalk or underneath a bridge on a highway or have 7 families rent one house. We still have to clean house at the state & local levels.
This is an emergency event. If the county has a problem with people living in "unsafe" housing than the county has a responability to give them safe housing. If there is not enough funds then start with the paychecks from the morons that are creating this problem.
purkiss80 - you got me again. If the purpose of this thread was to make me even more angry at the government than I already am, you have succeeded immensely.

Others will steal those same fruits, because those fruits do not meet whatever standards they impose. Worse, these unelected judges offer nothing in return
Living outside in the elements passes their code. You must tell them to screw off and stay. Fight them if necessary. Sheriff's protect your people damnit.
The people need to band together and say they aren’t moving out. Tents protect from nothing. Make local government enumerate what is not meeting code on each home. They provide more protection than tents or damaged homes. The local government can make a waiver. The local government entities must be removed.
Let me also say, the Amish eat like crap. I had the instinct they were all non-gmo, organic type stuff, not so, much to my amaze. I have also used them for framing, amazing quick... totally know what they're doing.
Everything about the Amish demonstrates the spirit of GOD
But the tents they are now living in during winter weather are OK??
I am so sick of these tyrants. I hope they all burn in HELL when their time comes,
Put them in tents, and those who lost their homes in the flood into THEIR houses!
I like this AL!
POTUS will fix all of this!
They just have to survive the winter. They already had 6” of snow up on the mountains and it will be getting into the teens at night soon.
That is two months away. People can’t wait that long.
Yeah, that will cover it.
Let 'em get lost in the woods.

Common sense and concern for the welfare of the people dictate that the code be disregarded due to the weather etc.
I very much agree. What they are doing here is just is ethically criminal.

All regulations can be suspended in a state of emergency, which they are clearly in.
This only makes sense if the country tyrants wants the property owners out of the area.
Yupp because they hate you.
Meanwhile we're flipping a massive bill for illegals to have housing/ apartments/ hotels.
Then they term nc residents fuck you
That’s the precise mentality of leftism. Daily example abound.
These civil servant parasites would have starved a few hundred years ago.
How soft have we become to allow small men with clipboards dictate and boss us around.
You have captured the essence of our entire situation BNHB!
How soft have we become to allow small men with clipboards dictate and boss us around.
It’s getting maddening how powerful these parasites have become. I feel a huge change coming very soon.

Easy problem to fix... just change the definition.
It's NOT a tiny house or a building. It's a wooden tent.
Does North Carolina have building codes that specify tent construction? No? I didn't think so.
Thank you, Amish, for building hundreds of wooden tents. :>)
I like where you're going with this. It's just an undocumented homeless shelter. Let's see them try and work around that particular phrasing.

If there was ever an actual example of the gov't having too many employees, this would have to be in the top five ...
I do not believe the Amish built crappy houses
100%....it didn't pass "Their" Code..."they" can fuck off....

Picturing a fat fuck that never worked a day in his life, that moved into the civil service the day he left university.
In other words, a career parasite.
By their fruits will you know them
Some give what they can
Others will steal those same fruits, because those fruits do not meet whatever standards they impose. Worse, these unelected judges offer nothing in return
You want to know what is wrong with America....
THIS IS WHAT'S WRONG WITH AMERICA
These fuckers.
A man and or woman should OWN THEIR FUCKING LAND
And the government should have NO AUTHORITY over it.
Do FEMA tents comply with NC building codes? Asking for a friend...
So much of the state has buildings that should be condemned, but a fresh little building isnt okay? We all know what this is.

Bureaucracy gone mad.
Living outside in the elements passes their code. You must tell them to screw off and stay. Fight them if necessary. Sheriff's protect your people damnit.
"Inspector? Never saw one...must have made a wrong turn."
My error in this situation would be not expecting my local government to come and kick me in the teeth.
If I were expecting it, I would roll over, spit out the blood, and unleash the hell that was pre-planned.
How are the Amish at welding? Like, steel plate on heavy construction equipment welding?
Killdozer

They eat like crap. Wtf are you talking about. Obviously an opinion but I've been to many Amish eateries. The food is always amazing.
Amish build to code standards and even higher, so this is likely some bullshit they're pulling to be dicks
So… change the code
let’s get Elon to retweet
I suppose those living in tents are up to code?
Yet if somebody comes and squats in your home with no electricity or water you can't get them out no matter what you do.
Everything you need to know about government/the system in that heading Give nothing and then take it all
Why did they fucking leave?!?!?!
... because living in a tent in the middle of winter is so much better than a wood house that's "not up to code."
/facepalm
You can't make stuff like this up. It's so braindead that it could only come from the mind of a low IQ career-employed bureaucrat.
Put the tent in the shed or the shed in the tent?
