Not to deflect from the original subject. There are certainly issues with grooming in every organization where children are present, and it all needs to be watched out for in all those places, but from what I’ve read, by far the worst infection of it are in public schools.
How come so many lesbians come out of girls softball? Can you imagine being taught about masturbation at age 15 by a lesbian as part of “Sex Ed”, a required public school class? This was happening decades ago.
Your children probably don’t attend a synagogue, but they probably do attend a public school, and media never covers the public schools.

The inherent problem is simply that of the position of authority, which will attract those who want to abuse the authority of the position. That is why the Catholic abuse scandals never troubled me personally, because I don't know if there's much you can do to vet people's private sinful desires (and we don't have control over this rogue anti-Catholic "Catholic" hierarchy, which is how I view how the situation is currently).
Abusers might seek to become teachers, it's just how it is. I'm not calling for the abolition of authorities, of teachers or clergy, I just accept that unfortunately authority is abused at times. We could try to prevent there from being occasions where abuse incidents can happen, but it's still going to be possible for trust to be abused whenever it is required. You could minimize occasions of teachers being alone with singular students, or things like that, for example.
