My fiancee is a teacher, makes 90k a year and after taxes and automatic deductions it's like 50-60k. It's insane to have that much money taken every single year to have it get thrown away like it is. We could have bought a house by now if it weren't for that stupid income tax.

Then there's the bullshit permitting fees and administrative kickbacks and contracting fees I'm legally required to pay if I want to build a home out of fucking mud and hay that I can source for pennies from where I live because there isn't fucking anything else here except mud and hay. The majority of the costs are administrative, rather than the cost of actual production. Fucking 3000 dollars to simply BUY a piece of well drilling equipment and drill your own if you said fuck the government, but if you did everything legally you'd be out 30-40 grand because you have to pick a government approved contractor and you have to eventually end up paying like 250 dollars a foot or some ridiculous amount like that.

I own a business in the oilfield. Don’t get me wrong, during December and Jan it’s usually 5-6k per week but come the end of Feb and the rest of the year it averages 10-13k per week. It’s long hours though that’s for sure.
