I already had been on the Navy for 6 1/2 yrs when 9/11 happened. I saw the blood lust on everyone's faces that day. The want and need for vengeance against our enemies. Then reality set in, as I watched Brothers and Sisters come home in boxes, and watched even more struggle with what they endured in those shit hole countries we were sent to. How it destroys the spirits of truly good people and those that are closest to them.
What really fucks with my head is that I've lost more Brothers to suicide than to combat. And it was all based on lies and deception. If it wasn't for my children, and now my grandchildren, and even my ex wife, I would've done myself in 2 decades ago. They don't understand it, but I tell them all the time how thankful I am that they saved my life in more ways and more times than I care to admit, much less think about. They'll most likely tell you they don't understand why we were sacrificed except for some already rich assholes to become even wealthier and more powerful.
