Hmm - I just looked up how many bases we (USA) have in the UK now versus 30 years ago (a couple years after I left). The UK is screwed if their idiot-in-charge actually provokes Russia.
We have around 11 bases today, and around 100 30 years ago. I know at least RAF Alconbury (where I was) has been gone for a while. It had A-10s and TR-1s (and maybe more I can't remember). Supposedly there are still Americans there, but the map I saw the other day of present-day Alconbury had buildings on the old runway and some small businesses where the dorms used to sit.
RAF Lakenheath is basically their only hope. They have F-15s and F-35s (if those haven't all crashed by now). I imagine they would leave if the UK provoked Russia to act.

In that case, it forces the Government to call a "Double Dissolution Election".
Both Houses of Parliament, the House of Representatives and the Senate are dissolved, the Government is now in "Care Taker" mode.
The people now get to elect a new Government.
They can choose to reelect the old Government if they so choose. It is the people's choice.
Usually if the situation has come to this stage, the old Government is finished and a better Government is elected.
In the case that the Government controls both Houses, the guardian of the Constitution, in the UK, the Monarch can dissolve the Government and bring about a new Election.
In Australia, the Guardian of the Constitution is the Governor General.
This is the procedure. I'm not saying this will happen, only this needs to happen.
