Preferably the former. This is not one to be feared. It’s just two documents in one. Drivers license and birth certificate (or naturalization form). Credit cards are actually scarier.
I have realID and didn't even know it. When we renew our drivers license, we get it. I guess I figure everyone who wants to know about me already does from my phone if they want to. I already had a state ID in the form of my drivers license, I am not worried that the feds know who I am. They already did. I guess I don't understand the freak out. My state issues licenses to illegals, so maybe since Real ID is fed, they won't allow illegals to have one, so my state can't issue them a DL? I don't know. I enjoy being faceless and nameless as much as I can be. I have an idea, do not put restrictions, other than basic law, on my citizenship as a free person in the USA. We have lost so much over the years. Imagine if "the other side" were able to use these restrictions against free citizens? Don't put laws into place that could turn the tables on us, it is not wise or futuristic.

Women usually change their name from maiden name listed on their birth certificate and social security card to their husband's last name. If she happens to become a widower or gets divorced and remarried to a different man, there is another name change. For Every single life / name change a woman has to jump through hoops to provide proof of who she is. That is completely unfair! I would almost consider a lawsuit for this reason alone. Needless to say, I won't be jumping through their hoops.
