Two of the most stoutly defended false dogmas of modern Christianity are that it is a-ok super-okie-dokie to eat pork and shellfish, and that we must obey the governing authorities no matter what they say unless they very explicitly tell us to kneel before something they call Ba’al and very explicitly worship it, especially with regard to paying taxes, even though they use them to fund baby sacrifices for Moloch. I don’t agree with everything the Muslims say downstream of not eating pork, but don’t disagree that we shouldn’t do it, and prefer to defend that position from a secular standpoint, because Paul is so mistaught (imo).

It's fine that you and others avoid pork and shellfish because some anon(s) in the middle East thousands and thousands of years ago noticed folks getting sick from consuming undercooked samples and wrote down a rule forbidding it. That just leaves more bacon, shrimp and crab for me! :)
Yeah, I don’t condemn anyone for it, or think it’s necessarily a one way ticket out of Heaven, just think that it practically leads to better health and religiously is requested of us by the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to be faithful. My bigger beef (badum-psh!) is more with the church for teaching we can and should ignore it now.

Funny enough that you mention it, I’ve had a lot more trouble talking people out of eating pork than shrimp. A lot. Nobody wants to give up pork. I don’t get it. Even when I used to eat them both, I never thought that much of pork, but loved shellfish. Maybe my body was trying to tell me it needed more mercury and chitin.

I think my bigger issue is that the church has thrown out the entire Old Testament, except as a nice collection of stories.
Can pretty much get rid of the Bible and carry around a nice embossed postcard at that point. Meanwhile, the same principle being used to justify eating pork, which is called an abomination, is the same principle being used to move on to justifying sodomy now, another abomination, and … nobody sees it. Curses of being ruled by our women and cut off from our people… as was promised.
I’m really eager for the “Greater things than these”, but it won’t be seen (at least not often) while everyone keeps going around defiling their temples like a bunch of Greeks.

The "Greater things than these" comes into play (assuming you mean John 14:12)...I believe, is pointing to the communion of you and the Christ in the temple built without human hands... and ultimately, communion with the Supreme Being. It's wonderful. Very, very, very few will allow themselves to experience this. This is exactly what Christ pointed to... but billions are reserved to believe, instead of know... and no church will explain how to achieve this.
This is the distinction between belief and experiential knowledge. This is the part where those who call themselves religious, dwell in ego; never escaping the confines of the normal mind, so concerned about "being right", being judgemental about what is written in the book, which book is the right one and taking everything literally...
To most, your reward is in "heaven" after you physically die... Even though, Christ said that the Kingdom of heaven is within you ... not on a planet somewhere that God allegedly lives. This nonsense is preached to people when they are 6 years old... and they never go back and evaluate if it is true or not... Most think they know this to be true, because all the parrots confirm it - their entire life...so it MUST be true, right? It's all second hand information that requires belief.
Knowing the real truth, can only be achieved by going within and silencing the mind. Then through Christ can you know God. Directly. Without whisper down the lane... and know, not believe, that you are truly eternal. The truth will literally, set you free...

For instance, what value is the story about Peter casting his net to the RIGHT side and catching fish? Taken literally, it means nothing for your daily life. However, viewed as allegory, and backed up by numerology, it makes perfect sense. Cast your attention/focus/consciousness to the right side of your brain... This story mentioned he caught 153 fish...Now who gives a crap? It's telling you that it's about your mind, because it adds up to 9. This is repeated in other parts of scripture as well. When a story doesn't make sense...look deeper.
Same with tithing..."give 10%"...is not about giving money. It's giving up your left brain, and moving to the right side, so God, in communion with the Christ, can give you the 90%.
But these are just confirmations... these are just pointings....YOU GOTTA GO VISIT AT GOD'S HOUSE - in the temple built without human hands to reap the benefits - TO BE GIVEN EVERYTHING - butcha won't... because church didn't give you permission or instructions to do that - on the contrary - they scared you away from looking. And from my perspective, it is very, very sad to witness religious people thinking they're in the know, when unfortunately, they don't know anything truly about true communion with the Christ and God. They'll argue with you to the death over stupid shit and won't be very "dog gone" Christ-like about it either.

I’ve been eating strictly organic/Whole Foods groceries for six months. I bought non organic pork tenderloin from Costco recently and it tasted gross to me, almost like dirt. Unfortunately, I have one more package of two tenderloins to go through but I’m not buying that shit again.
We just started eating organic, grass fed, free range, etc., … it makes a difference, body feels better, and I agree, other meats now don’t taste that great. Donate the old tenderloins to a friend.
That must be really fresh and tender pork to pass as veal!
