I have Type 2 and actually went through a phase where I had to add carbs to my diet because my blood sugar was going extremely low. I caught it once when I had to pick my adult daughter (who lived in Florida) up from the Pittsburgh airport to bring her to western MD for my Grandmother's funeral. I had driven from TX up to IL and then east to PA overnight and neglected to get breakfast before picking her up. I was going to stop at McDs for an egg mcmuffin after I picked her up, but never made it that far. I was maybe 5 miles from McDs and started to get dizzy and got tunnel vision. I was in the left lane of a 3-lane highway and managed to get all the way to the right and took the first exit I saw, and went straight to a gas station.
My daughter went in and got me a Reeses Cup candy bar and a Coke (not diet) and I consumed both as quickly as I could. Fifteen minutes later my blood sugar level was back up and I was able to drive (after getting an egg mcmuffin) to my grandmother's house without incident. After that I carried those round candy-looking things that raise your blood sugar quickly.
If I could have that happen to me (although I didn't get bad enough to be hospitalized since I caught it myself) imagine what could happen to a Type-1 person that maybe miscalculated carbs or her insulin dosage? She does seem pretty heavy for someone with Type-1 - they are usually pretty skinny due to the lack of being able to eat a lot of snacks.
You're right though - Roberts is probably a good candidate to leave if someone maybe shows him evidence of him doing an illegal adoption, and gives him a choice.
I'm type 1. It's not that hard to manage. I believe type 1's are far more aware of their blood sugar levels than type 2's as a general rule, and a heightened sensitivity to it as well. But Sotomayor is bad news either way.
By the way, not that a drastic diet change is easy, but I'm told type 2 can be completely reversed with a sustained no-carb diet. I'm sure you've been told before so I won't belabor the point, but the diet has done wonders for me, and I expect it will eventually reverse my T1 diagnosis as well. Cheers.
