I remind people of Ron Paul:

Why do SOME libertarians have a problem with Tariffs? That is because of the same reason they have a problem with Borders. The reason is they have a salient point and project it towards the extreme, instead of practically looking at the issues at hand. Or, those SOME Libertarians have a vested interest in supporting their own business.
Call it: idealistic blindness. But such ideals have never existed, except on their own cast away Island of the imagination.
It often devolves into a True Scottsman argument. As towards the claim, you would not need another enemy to make you feel better. The IRS, the Fed, is has been a scam from the get go. There is a clear distinction between open-borders libertarians and libertarian nationalists. I’m in the latter group and I recommended tariffs to President Trump.

The Anarcho-Capitalists were there from the beginning, as a following around Murray Rothbard. They affected an air of ideological superiority above the more ordinary Constitutional capitalists, who were morally and mentally ill-equipped to pop the Anarchist balloons. By the 1990s, the LP had become a kind of daytime soap opera for political infighting. It was worthless as a political entity. They didn't even have the ability to come out in support of the 2nd Amendment, which to me was kind of a touchstone of sincerity. As far as I am concerned, they have degenerated into worthless nonsense.
I quit libertarianism after I realized how bad they were about cultural issues. Porn, gay marriage, open borders etc. just no. Also something like Anarcho-Capitalism can only work where everyone is high IQ and has a similar cultural identity.

All foreign aid and probably government benefits, plus 9/10 of the government would have to be cut for everything to be funded solely by tariffs. Projections should not be made on what we currently have right now.

Sounds like Hillary making the 'adjusted' excuses for deleting her emails. She had about 5 revisions to her original excuse after more evidence came to light rebutting each of her claims. "The emails didn't have 'the right' classified mark in the usual corner." and so on.

The beauty of tarrifs in the short term is that not all businesses would pass on the cost to customers.
But a vat is unavoidable 100% of the time like federal income taxes for most people.
Long term the revenue generated from the external revenue service means the US doesn't need vat or federal income taxes.
And the inflationary impact of tariffs have no weight because what ultimately drives inflation is money printing of m2 money supply.
So, if the Fed is also contained then the US may see great prosperity.
The libertarian community is like a large ghost town, occupied by a medium-size biker gang.
