I don’t use it often, but yesterday I requested 2 users be deported for not being respectful. The first, another user was being bullied unsolicited and then later for some reason I was also. Anyways, I reported both users for not being respectful, and the mods responded accordingly. I respect this site for trying to maintain decorum, we all know that the mods for other sites don’t care nearly as much about that factor but it is what helps this place be a comfy welcoming place for all of us frens. Thank you mods!

And they also tolerate me, a clearly defective individual, so there is that. 😎 Every moderating team needs someone willing to say "the buck stops here with me" and that's my job. Truly, these people are the finest people I have ever interacted with. I appreciate that you guys keep the Chan culture at bay. That's what killed both Voat and Gab. I don't mind mean words, but it's a problem when they become an organizing principle.
Actually Voat got shut down by the owner after we started getting too close to some uncomfy truths and he got pressure from the outside. The "pure free speech" you're talking about is nothing more than brigading, bullying, and shock-jockying. It drives away normies by design, which is the opposite of what we want to accomplish here.
Well, that's not 'pure free speech' defined, however it's a potential of pure free speech.
I liken the 1st Amendment to 'vocal anarchy', and private entities may choose to further restrict it, or leave it wide open. Non-governmental websites are private entities, so they can limit speech how they see fit on their site. The same can be said for a bar owner kicking out someone who won't shut up about politics and is pissing off all their patrons. That speech is lawful speech, but they don't want it inside that private business in that instance.
I understand your sentiments on the chan culture. Like I said before, much of that is inorganic, nefarious intel agency psyops. But as we know, man tends to emulate his environment. Many real anons have been warped by those psyops 😞

Mod team is integral to the health of an online community. Which is what a bunch of people become if they interact and engage with each other online for an extended period of time.
Healthy communities create traditions, mores, and deliver all sorts of benefits. A mod team is like the white corpuscles in a healthy immune system: they help to clean out the waste, knock back defective foreign substances and elements, and help to regulate the overall flow of activity.
Of course, a mod team on its own is nothing. They need a community around them for them to have a real purpose. So, quality participation is another core element of a healthy online community. And this is why we have frogs here.
The dynamic between participants and mods, this is what makes an online community worth being part of. And, with the right dynamic, the quality of both reinforces each other. Reciprocal.
I just write this, because its a point I always love to make, and always have since first venturing online in the 90s.

You did. I just remember BQnita was always helpful & worked to help me feel like an important part of our community. With other Anons passing, I wondered if I had missed something.
Makes me want to get to know more Anons on a personal level. Goes against all the safety protocols I know, though there are others here who have made some good connections IRL & if I was at a different stage in my life, I wouldn't be so hesitant.
Maybe in another 6-12 years, or sooner if we get our country back & have no need to worry about worse than death retribution.

Yes “be respectful” is one of the standards of this site. You don’t get to come here and abuse people just because you don’t like them for whatever reason. It’s why this place isn’t grumpy like other places, because people know they can’t come here and treat people like crap. We can disagree but we don’t have to abuse people who hold different views.
I’m not fond of deportings, but when the mods actively requested that if someone is a douchecanoe to bring them forward for deportation, it’s a call to duty.

Look, I report and the mods decide the appropriate action. I’ve been deported myself. I didn’t like it but after looking through my own history, I was clearly harping on an issue and got my time out. When people are shitting on another person saying hateful things they can also get their own time out. Maybe they can come back, maybe they can’t. Not my decision but I report and let those with the guard rails decide.

I had to request a deportation yesterday, also. A handshake account was being obnoxiously disrespectful to commenters asking that the Lord’s name not be used in vain. Mods have addressed it. I appreciate the difference of opinions that I read here. Most can express themselves without being hateful. For those that can’t, report and deport.
I check for the news around the internet regularly, and this is the best single starting point to find out what is going on. It's because of the mods, plus all the Pepes. Plus, this place has the best shitposts. Which are essential to a healthy diet.

Reporting people is the Karen thing to do. Remember you're asking for someone's free speech to be censored and it will always go the way the mods want it to go because "my house" mentality.
There is no free speech on platforms that are privately owned. Remember that, the narrative can also be shaped on this site where you think that everyone is just "sharing missing information."
Keeping spam and bots off the site is one thing. Limiting peoples' free speech is another entirely. I've been using forums since the year 2000 when most people posting here probably didn't have a home PC connected to the internet. I would venture a guess that most here do not still and are using cell phones to access.
Censorship has been a problem for the internet ever since marketing/sales people got involved and the corporate greed set it's claws in. This site isn't run for free on "thank you" so someone somewhere is driving what is "allowed" and "not allowed" on THEIR website that makes money for them.
Ad agencies will pull out whenever the narrative skews too far off of what they want to "support" and when that happens then the money dries up. So to act like everyone can just say whatever they want is a big stretch, on ANY platform online. The only exception is completely paid for out of pocket websites with no ads.
It wasn't that long ago that memes were being shared on this site that were saying things like "bring bullying back" because too many people turned into pussies as a result of being a care bear about others' feelings.
If someone is bullied and decides to not come to where bullies are anymore then the ONLY people affected by that are the people losing money from ad revenue. That is why there is a drive to censor people for "bullying". The person that leaves would be considered weak for folding in normal society. The "karen" that narcs on others for bullying would be told to mind their own business.
Reporting posts is a very liberal thing to do. Just think about that.

The point I'm making is that the narrative on this site, and any other site on the internet, is shaped by peoples' feelings. We're supposed to be here for facts so feeling that someone is being bullied and then narcing them out to the mods is "extra".
I, for one, do not like it when people don't mind their own business. If you're attacked directly and then report a post because you don't like it, that's probably higher up on the "ok" scale than reporting someone for attacking someone else. We've got thought police running around here or what? I didn't think we did but the OP here proves that we do.
If I have something to thank the mods for it's keeping spam off the site and automated robo posts. There can be rules without limiting peoples' free speech, but again, that's not what this is. This isn't a free speech area because when you step out of line of what someone "feels" is ok, then you will be reported and if they're a mod you can be outright banned.
I'm not advocating for anarchy either or a mudpit full of pigs. I'm just saying narcing on someone for what they said to SOMEONE ELSE gives strong karen vibes IMO. People used to be allowed to have opinions about others.... like "i think the person that just said that is a little bitch." Most of us were taught that sticks and stones will break your bones but words will never hurt you. No, those people got beat up because tribe culture mentality was all that was around. They were out of their element and weren't carrying self defense. I guarantee that if just one of those assailants was dispatched everyone else would have f'd off. Feel how you want about shooting people in self defense of your life but I would vote that it was justified if they put me on that jury.
