This is sad news. What a great group that was, whose remnant is still present today on GAW. But those were the days.

Voat was my first step into waking up. The recommendation to move here completed that process. Grateful for VOAT then, and GAW now....a ton of great knowledge and insight here, and I appreciate all of you who make the effort to share it.
There are ways to solve these sort of things.
As in the case of VOAT itself, our community willingness to support it, were not enough. But back then we did not have every solution there is now available.
And .... even worse than in the case of VOAT, searchvoat was simply pulled. No announcement, nothing. When asked I am sure we could come up with some ideas and support.
For instance: ARWEAVE allows for any website to be on the blockchain: immutable, and for as long as there is energy. Even if the total of the site is 2000Gigs, it would have been possible to get it on there for a one off payment. Legal jeopardy means nothing then.
And that would have been a huge middle finger to the Deep State. Fuck their censorship. Beaten by blockchain. Such is its power.
So, if there is any option to do so, I think it is worth it to preserve searchvoat, especially the Greatawakening and QRV.
But I guess we can always ask No Such Agency for their backups?

Surely there’s a way to scrape those pages, build an indexer/search engine, then put that on ARWEAVE as you suggest.
I’m sure it’s an effort but maybe not an unreasonably hard open source one?
If you want to add content, you need the original page and work from there. It could have been done, if a Request for Change had been issued prior to removal. Then a community effort could have been setup, a pitch in, buy the arweave tokens, and upload the sections we need. It would not change much to the layout of the site when the limit is: Greatawakening & QRV.
As it were, the site operator should have considered the risks that were mounting since 2015, especially during Covid.
As searchvoat.co now is a static site, there are a lot of options.
This is not the first rodeo, I have been confronted with. But years of effort, research and interactions: gone.

I had a love/hate relationship with voat. Way before Q, I followed a banished mod from Reddit TD to voat. She tried to start a voat TD but the sub was brigaded by other competing subs to the point that it was rendered useless. I always wondered what happened to her.
Then I revisited voat again when Reddit purged all of the GAW subs. Voat was pretty vile but as a lost GAW soul, it sufficed. It felt like we were banished to voat, even though I appreciated the opportunity to discuss all that is Q.
When GAW dot win was created, I rarely revisited voat. I guess all remnants are gone now.

Cloudflare is a content distribution network proxy - it can appear to be in many locations at once, even with the same IP address.
It caches static content from servers behind it and distributed it to CF's many datacenters to speed up page load times, and also take the hit of a DDoS attack so that it wouldn't hit the site's actual servers.
GAW is also behind Cloudflare proxies, it works well, and is a good practice to use it rather than just connecting a server to the internet in many cases.
They also offer DNS and some other services for free or pretty cheap at low scales.

Thanks. I had looked at Voat a few times, though never really joined the conversation there. I was always working on boards that could share aggregated info that would be more socially accepted so those who chose to be offended easily (ie very prudish conservatives). Boards like this, Great Awakening & T_D on Reddit were better than the Chans, which I checked into lots. I don't recall if it was Great Awakening, or The Donald, on Reddit that I saw links to Voat. Checked it a few times & then ultimately found this place after joining Patriots.win (originally TheDonald.win).
I would have had more fun on Voat if I realized it was a full research board like the Chans were back in the day.

Q gave us a direct link to VOAT. One thing I noticed early on was that 10,000 subs were fake. We were a smaller group than people realized. I used to write down the subs count on my workbench. If you explored Voat most if not all of the other boards were fake. No one was actualy there except QRV and a bunch of the ladies talked about cooking. I called them out a few times on random boards and they had funny responses. The porn was the funniest, they would recycle the same pictures as new posts.

At best I think there may have been a few hundred of us. It was a fun place. The old Goats all miss it. at the end there were 20,503 subs but again the first 10,000 were fake. Many of those subs were bots and Alpebet agencies, we could rarely get over 400 subs in reality.
Remember when 4chan invaded and we didn't even notice lol...

Odysee.com used to be on LBRY, but now partnered with arweave, thus making it very resistant against censorship.
I suppose, technically, an operation could be shutdown, but, the videos are on arweave and immutable. They only way to scrap it would be to nuke arweave blockchain.

Voat, for all it's pro's and con's, seems like a brief layover in the long journey it has been since 2016. Lots of good and bad could be construed from the site, but what matters most is that for that moment in time Q directed anons there. Whether that be to thicken our froggy skin or come together more closely as an army of frens, the end result we all see here today reflected in these comments.
