Long ago POTUS mentioned about getting rid of Federal Income Taxes & IRS...you know the way he does about everything. A mention, then more and more frequently until a drip becomes a flood. He mentioned Property Taxes and shrugged then said, 'who knows'. I told my husband watch and see, all of this illegal taxation is about to end. He didn't believe me over 8 years ago, but now he does. 😸
Btw, we are retired here. I'm from Texas, hubby from Michigan. Funnily enough, my husband was recently talking about moving to Arkansas as they are very favorable to retirees.
He is not a leader. He goes where the wind blows once other governors stick their nose out. We vote for him over and over because there was not another republican choice that could beat him.
I've heard Dan Patrick might run against Abbott. He's our Lt Governor. Not sure of his chances as most Tx republicans love Abbott.

This is SO IMPORTANT! Seniors who have paid off their mortgages, have to "rent" their home from the county, which assesses the value much in excess of what they paid for it. The property tax is forcing people from their HOMES that are FULLY PAID FOR! The property tax is in excess of rent! They seem to WANT to force people from their homes by confiscatory property taxes!
While other people vote every election for higher property taxes.
Yep it screws people on fixed incomes badly. I used to not believe in gentrification but when you have people selling ranches to tract home developers that is what you get. And Californians paying 10% over asking price of a home to shut down any sort of bidding wars.

Same question here. However, getting rid of public education is not a problem for me. It's the emergency services that I wonder about how we'll pay for.
I live in an unincorporated community. We have volunteer fire dept. public school can gfys because I pay for them to turn kids into gays and trannies and I don't even have kids. Most of my property taxes goes towards that garbage in fact.
Freedom requires land ownership via allodial title. Fee simple (which is what our current ownership model is) means the government can tax or take your land (with "fair" compensation of course) anytime they want. Allodial title is the only way to truly own land, contract between you and God, everything else is condition ownership.

My Texas governor is a follower, so I'm sure Abbott will announce the same. Wish Abbott would have lead this for once in his political career.

I'm retired and have paid property taxes now for 30 years in this house. House is paid off, but I still have $850/month in property tax.
