Everyone arrested in "insurrection" should be held in a Federal camp while it's being sorted out. How many protesters would be willing to paid protest for $15/hr... knowing that an arrest = at least one year in custody?
Arrest, and find where their money came from; whether they are illegal; and all that jazz.
The insurrection part can already put them away, so there's plenty of time to look at their devices.

Agreed. This is a good point. The arrests need to be broadly acceptable... and seen as political violence. One big problem is that the public has been made to feel used to calls-for-violence. The left thinks it's edgy, you see. They are taught in college that such speech will get one lots of attention, and people will furiously debate one, while one takes a LOL-edgy posture (add some beer and drugs, and maybe get laid, or paid). The right believes in talking and legaleezing their way in the debate, just as a democracy always was meant to be.
TBH, I don't know if either party will convince the other. As a side note, I don't think the founding fathers had a two-party system (and its intrinsic set-up for civil wars) in mind. Just saying.
As a UK counterpoint, there is George Galloway's arrest ... a man who has never hurt a fly, and only ever opened his mouth, to be elected. Shame. I am rooting for him to get back into parliament, this time with lots of supporters. Heck. send him in to run the place already, he is the only one who makes any sense any more.
