‘Satanism’: Russian lawmaker calls for Halloween ban
Celebrating the holiday should be outlawed as it undermines traditional values, according to Mikhail Ivanov
Halloween should be banned in Russia, according to a lawmaker in Bryansk Region who associates it with Satanism, which is illegal in the country.
Speaking to news outlet Gazeta.ru, Mikhail Ivanov, who is also the head of the organization ‘Orthodox Russia’, described Halloween as a Western holiday that is alien to Russian culture and its spiritual foundations, claiming it is being forcefully imposed on society.
He argued that the symbolism associated with Halloween is linked with evil spirits and darkness and has a “destructive influence” on the fragile psyche of the younger generation.
According to Ivanov, the celebration undermines Russia’s traditional values, promotes occultism, and contradicts “the fundamental moral values on which our country has been built for centuries.”
Ivanov has called for equating the promotion of Halloween with the propagation of Satanism, stating that his organization’s mission is to create “legal barriers to the aggressive promotion of alien ideologies disguised as harmless entertainment.” The lawmaker urged Russians to focus instead on their own national holidays, heroes, and history instead of “borrowed substitutes.”
Halloween traces its origins to the Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of the harvest and the belief that spirits could cross into the world of the living.
The Western Christian Church, particularly Roman Catholics, later adopted the date as All Hallows’ Eve, the vigil preceding All Saints’ Day. The celebration eventually evolved into today’s Halloween, known for costumes, lanterns, and trick-or-treating.
Ivanov’s proposal comes as Russian religious leaders have been warning of occult practices spreading across the country.
Earlier this year, Russian Orthodox Church archpriest Andrey Tkachev described the phenomenon as a serious moral threat to the nation, stating that “the Russian land is full of sorcerers” and that “this abomination requires purification.”
The newspaper MK had previously reported that spending on esoteric services such as fortune-telling and spiritual healing reached 2.4 trillion rubles ($24 billion) in Russia in 2024.

As a horrendous sinner saved by Grace, I am unable to celebrate Halloween. I cant even watch scary movies anymore if they are demonic and unnecessarily gory. I am no longer entertained by it. I believe spiritual warfare is happening all around us and therefore, I cannot participate in the things of darkness.
Imagine participating in "No kings day" and justifying it by saying, its just a harmless parade. I dont stand by its message, I just enjoy being with people.
How about a Pride Festival and the justification is, I am just there celebrating Love and enjoying the pretty colors. I am not celebrating the homosexual/perversion part of it.
I'm with you. I never liked the idea of "celebrating" or taking part in Halloween. There's just something not right about "celebrating" the holiday by hanging dead bodies from trees, splattering blood, dressing up as killers, gluttony from all the candy etc...
It is celebrating a death cult.
Right there with you fren. What people call entertainment and "innocent" fun these days is a gross underestimation of what is really taking place. It is spiritual warfare meant to desensitize God fearing people to the evil surrounding them. I never have been able to watch horror movies or anything in that genre. I also don't like blatant violence and obscenity. I do not want those images burned into my psyche. We are commanded to think on good things and to shun even the appearance of evil.
Halloween went from undressing to straight horror and gore.
It was the celebration of All Hallow's Eve, the night before All Saints Day.
Exactly, from the false church, that believes works, and praying to saints, leads to the Gates of the Kingdom of God, opening. Only the BLOOD of Jesus will the Gates OPEN. "Come out of HER my people" Revelation 18:4
I have mixed emotions about Halloween. Never celebrated the devil. Loved the decorating and costumes (and as a kid the one night of candy and freedom was great). The Christian horror houses (depicting a life of sin, consequences and an eternity in hell) have been quite effective. But…
My problem is, if one is not going to celebrate the holiday because it has roots in paganism then…
…you better get rid of your Christmas tree and stop celebrating in December, dump the Yule log, stop calling “Easter” Easter (Ishtar), dump the Easter basket for your kids, stop hiding eggs and giving stuffed bunny toys, stop celebrating St. Patty’s Day which has its roots in paganism, etc.
Nobody seems to have the same issues celebrating these pagan traditions.
Soooo, my conundrum is…how much does intent have to do with our choices? And can pagan holidays be redeemed?
There’s enough feast days in the Orthodox calendar to satisfy anyone. I endorse the Russian’s religious unity. It’s understandable after 80 years of Communist suppression.
There is a large debate over "Is Christmas Pagan?", and I've followed it closely. For me, I've come to the dispassionate conclusion that it is not, and if anything, the movement is an attempt to remove secular references to Christ from the global dialog.
There is such a thing as paganoia. Some diehards try to look for pagan roots in everything. Even though some of these religious observances had some pagan synchronism a couple thousand years ago, those meanings have been lost over time. People should understand that Jesus was not born at Christmas. However, if Christianity wants to take a day once a year and celebrate His birth into the world, I see no problems with the day they have picked.
Once you see the issues it’s hard not to question. I have debated putting up a tree the last few years. I find it really troubling all the halloween decor and minimal at Christmas.
Agreed. Halloween at its core is evil. I don't celebrate Christmas personally. I will go to Church. But that is the extent of my involvement. However, I don't have objections to the extent that others celebrate the holiday. I do think it has become hypercommercialized and the meaning for the celebration is overshadowed by consumerism.
Halloween is a celebration of a death cult. That is the biggest issue with it as far as I am concerned. We support life, not death. Halloween is also one of the holiest days on the Satanic calendar. People need to keep a close eye on their children in the month leading up to Halloween because they can disappear. It has happened near where I live. These kids end up being used in rituals.
What I don't understand is how people that call themselves Christians can take part. They even have Halloween celebrations at Churches all over the country. The Bible tells us we are not to be partakers with this kind of evil. It is sold to the public as innocent fun - it is not. We need to learn to see the difference.
Hey Mac….
Seems to me the Halloween of 50 years ago is not the same as today. It looks much darker these days. Or maybe I just have a different understanding now, or both.
Our church has a big celebration with games and candy and gospel tracts. But they do dress up in costumes. So again…my questions remain.
Yes, you are right. It certainly is not the same as 50-60 years ago. When I was a kid, it was basically dressing up in cute costumes and getting candy - for one day - that was it. There were no Halloween parties, no haunted houses, and no symbols of death all over the place. Houses with ghoulish decorations was a very rare exception. Most parents avoided them - for good reason.
To me, it seemed to make a dramatic change in acceptability back in the early 80's when Hollywood started with all the Freddie and slasher types of movies - very unlike the classic horror movies of the 50's that are laughable by more modern standards. Back then, I knew people my age that were almost addicted to very realistic horror movies that had become extremely more graphic over time. I remember more than once getting up and leaving from a movie night at home with friends.
Then there was the proliferation of occult themed games. Dungeons and Dragons had a huge impact on the youth by introducing them to occult ritual. The change was very noticeable to me and I voiced my objections more than once - especially to parents that didn't seem to think there was a problem, after all, "it's just a game." They didn't seem to understand the doors that "innocent fun" were opening. The commercialism surrounding Halloween also seemed to expand, turning that one day into a more seasonal event - like what has happened with Christmas. That contributed greatly to the expansion of what is seen as acceptable.
All of this has opened doors to dark spiritual forces. People slowly have been drawn in and the evil has been allowed to become more public. Something the broader culture years earlier would have flatly rejected because of what it represented. Over time, the country has become more immune to the symbolism to the point where in the 21st century, it is now fully out in the open and in our faces with images of death cult and occult symbolism everywhere. People see no problem with their children wearing everyday clothing and "possessing" other articles with skulls and crossbones, now being considered fashionable. Celine Dion's children's clothing line comes to mind. But even that was considered too over the top for many. Just give it time.
How far we have digressed in what is deemed acceptable. That acceptance has led to the rise of punks, depressed goths, and now purple and pink haired freaks. Then there is the whole trans movement. Tattoos and piercings, which are also rooted in the occult, are mainstream. Body modification to alter appearance into something non-human, has increased in popularity - but thankfully, not to the same degree. Casual dabbling into occult practices has come a long way in popularity. I have been in homes that proudly display symbols of witchcraft and the like, forcing me to leave. They don't seem to realize what it leaves them open to, and they don't make the connections to the chaos that it has unleashed in their lives and the lives of their children.
With all these changes, the Church has been forced to compete. What saddens me is that many believers seem to have made a compromise rather than make a clear distinction. Simply offering an alternative event clothed in names like "Harvest Festival" is missing the point, and in many cases, appears more like surrender. I have even seen large congregations actually have their own haunted houses. The worst part of all this is that too many are simply blind to the surrender and justify it by convincing themselves, "it's for the kids" and "it's just innocent fun." This is a far cry from being the salt and light as we were commanded to be. We are commanded to not take part, or even give the appearance to do so. The lines are simply too blurred. Taking a stand against the encroachment of spiritual darkness is not the popular thing to do and too many have just given in to it. If you can't beat them, join them.
I apologize for the rant. But this is something I feel very strongly about. We have the advantage of years that give us a perspective of how far things have digressed. Maybe someone else needs to read this. Have a great rest of your week fren. God bless.
Rant away…lol. I agree with you.
“We have the advantage of years that give perspective of how far things have digressed.” So true.
Imo, it’s like trying to tell someone that they have been/are being abused but they just can’t see it because it’s normal to them.
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Blessings back at you.
We have stopped doing all of the above. 👌☕
Halloween is very fun for kids - the costumes, the candy, the make-believe, the interaction with the neighbors while trick-or-treating. Even many adults get a kick out of dressing up and having costume parties.
Halloween might have pagan roots, but in its modern form, most people don't use it to celebrate murder, death, or Satan. They use it to play dress-up, eat candy, have fun with friends, and interact with the neighbors.
Halloween does mix in some dark themes in with the fun, pumpkins, and the superhero and princess costumes, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Life isn't all sweetness and light, and it's okay for our cultural traditions to acknowledge that.
The left takes away joy and fun. The right shouldn't do that.
One can do all of the necessary "fun" things, year round, with your children without throwing the dark occult into the mix. My wife and I do. Takes work, but it's better than glorifying Satan. 🤷♂️
It's twisted, evil and essentially opening a gateway to the evil realm of Satan. Inviting his influence into your home, your family, your kids.... why anyone thinks this is okay is beyond me
Exactly fren. People have been lulled to sleep concerning the spiritual evil it represents thinking its innocent fun. They don't understand that the spiritual world is more reality than the physical realm we can perceive with our senses. Dark spiritual forces attach themselves to objects or celebrations like this. Halloween especially. It opens a dark portal. There is a reason why the occult has picked this day as a high holy day.
Halloween is not to be celebrated by Christians. It is evil in it's conception. Most Christian churches have turned to Fall Festivals that do not have the demonic connotations. Every Halloween I think on these scriptures.
Zep 1:7 Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests. Zep 1:8 And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel. Zep 1:9 In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.
It is a pagan festival, when lore and myth took the place of religion. Celtic, if the history is true. The Harvest is over, and it seems that death happens to the earth, as the woods become bare and plants die off. Skeletons and spookiness, because death is/was, spooky and final. It was made up stories, like, the dead are hungry, the jack o lantern, a hallowed out turnip carved into faces, with a candle inside, was supposed to keep the bad spirits away. When Catholicism came to the pagan land of Ireland, it was easier to convert the locals if some of the traditions remained, the narrative changed to some kind of religious observance, All Souls Day, a time to remember those who died without baptism, and they were supposed to be prayed for on that day. Of course it was commercialized, and with the commercialization, more costumes came about, with witches and other monsters. The only symbolism should be skellies and white sheeted "ghosts". Begging for treats, because the ghosts were apparently hungry, may be an off shoot from the hunger and famine that the Irish were subjected to. The Catholics thought the Protestants were evil and demonic, the Protestants thought the same of the Catholics. It's really amazing that one small country had such an influence on American culture, but I can tell you that kids running up and down the street giggling and dressed as princesses or superheros or witches and pirates for one evening out of the year will not turn them into blood drinking evil adults. Although many a teacher will tell you that the day after halloween , with sugar addled kids could be a horror in itself. Taking away people's traditions and thinking somehow they are being cleansed of evil is a weird thought to me. There are evil practices in the world going on right now, and they are being practiced by real life monsters. So off target, in my opinion. We will have a bowl of candy ready, held by the skellie that sits in a lawn chair in the front of the house. It gets dark early up here, so the invasion of the littles lasts about an hour and a half. Some Protestant denominations think this will force us into hell, and some Catholics think all sex without the idea of making a baby being its only purpose, is a sin. I think we all continue to be off target when fighting real evil, and vanity and virtue signalling is as systemic with Conservatives as it is in liberals. Sigh, its the perennial discussion, next up is Christmas and we have to hear about pagan Christmas trees again. Lighten up. My goats really love Halloween, the pumpkin guts and seeds are a natural de wormer, and the pumpkins themselves are a lovely treat.
There's always Day of the Dead, the Latin American equivalent dedicated to honoring their deceased ancestors
A pagan festival that was adopted by the Catholic Church.
Americans need to stop the stupid holiday too. We could do a harvest festival and strike the name holy eve from the lexicon. Yup it means holy eve. Its a hat tip to the devil like it or not. I dont tip my hat to that POS.
A pastor at a church I attended said of this holiday that "Hallowe'en is a celebration of Death dressed up as a birthday party." For someone like me who was on the fence, that stuck.
A very true statement. It celebrates a death cult.
1... Halloween will not be 'celebrated' this year.
2... Don't answer the door for 'trick-or-treaters'.
3... Purification is coming.

RED (Sky) October.
What an amazing coincidence.
Tell me more about statements 1..2..and 3...
I’m clairaudient, I “heard” statement number 1 very clearly the other day. I have no sauce except “trust me bro”, you can handle this comment JT, but I’m sure others will feel a little “uncomfortable” hearing a comment such as this.
Do you believe Halloween won’t be celebrated because of the solar phenomenon we are anxiously awaiting? And, statement number 2.....This makes me nervous as hell but I do know number 3 will happen. But at what cost? The Bible states there will be scary things happening at the end, but will literal demons and darkness be surrounding us? I watched This is the End, a comedy apocalyptic movie from 2013. It’s a stupid ass movie, BUT....it’s not so stupid when you learn that Hollywood has been telling what’s going to happen.

Correct, I do not believe Halloween will be celebrated this year because of "solar phenomena."
"Don't answer your door" comes from the long-prophesied "three days of darkness."
This is a rabbit hole worth going down.
Bonus rabbit hole that is connected to the three days of darkness:
Look up "demon face syndrome."
Then Watch the music video for the song "Black Hole Sun."
It depends the "demon face syndrome" entities being sucked off the earth sort of like a reverse rapture.

"Cease to exist" is a very particular phrase... 🤔
Look in to all the above. It's wild.
I watched the Black Hole Sun video.....thanks for the share. Chris Cornell knew... a lot know....most don’t listen. Good will win. Evil will cease to exist.
Black hole sun Won't you come And wash away the rain? Black hole sun Won't you come? Won't you come?
Not surprised to see you mentioned the “three days of darkness rabbit hole”... I’ve been down it and came back up a little disoriented and a little freaked out! One thing I read said to not care for your livestock if you have them, because you must stay inside the entire time! 😬
This is a difficult rabbit hole to dig into. I feel like a lot of the info one finds on searches plays too much into the churches interpretation and could be altered. If you have any good links, please share. I’m sure some inquiring minds want to know. I only ask because you seem to have a plethora of archived knowledge.
Demon face= “They won’t be able to walk down the street.” The urban areas and large cities might be a sight to behold. The rural areas might not experience as much terror.
EXACTLY. I've been saying the part in green since mid 2024.
Some swear it has to do with med beds or something lol. NO. Doesn't fit the context.
Whatever you do, do not fear.
Some people don't like to put any attention to things they're afraid of. I do agree with that BUT I think this is a mistake IF it's something you may have to face in the future.
Mental preparation can be helpful.
The good news is that sort of like vampire legends, they're not allowed in your home unless you open your door or invite them in. That's precisely why I do not have a "welcome" mat outside my front door.
Disclaimer: I'm just a random guy on the Internet with opinions.
Ha ha! Aren’t we all?
I’ve been doing mental preparation for what seems like my entire life. Let’s get this party started!
💯“Some people don't like to put any attention to things they're afraid of. “ 💯
Some of the prophecies say to not open your door or go outside or even look out the windows....I’m not sure if I believe it to this extent. That seems like a power play from those who want to rewrite our history. As someone who has a curious nature I feel like I would like to see a little for myself... 😂
Consider Lot's wife
Point taken....
I’m a musician... I’m familiar with the clarinet part of this song, never really knew the words.....after our conversation about the three days of darkness I started instinctively humming this song. My clairaudience is sometimes brought out through music. I don’t believe in coincidence. Listen to this song. Be sure to make it all the way through. It’s a beautiful pick me up...but to add in some dark humor it could also be a beautiful soundtrack for a scary apocalyptic situation where the sun is dark. I’m adding the lyrics below...but give it a listen it’s a musical masterpiece. The vocals don’t start until later on in the song.
The sun has left and forgotten me It's dark, I cannot see Why does this rain pour down? I'm gonna drown In a sea of deep confusion
Somebody told me, I don't know who Whenever you are sad and blue And you're feelin' all alone and left behind Just take a look inside you and you'll find
You gotta hold on, hold on through the night Hang on, things will be all right Even when it's dark And not a bit of sparkling Sing-song sunshine from above Spreading rays of sunny love
Just hang on, hang on to the vine Stay on, soon you'll be ///DIVINE If you start to cry, look up to the sky Something's coming up ahead To turn your tears to dew instead
And so I hold on to this advice When change is hard and not so nice If you listen to your heart the whole night through Your sunny someday will come one day soon to you

It's a fun day for children. Just make sure they know the deets and don't end up worshipping satan
We are not too fragile to decorate with cute halloween ghosties. I will die on this hill.
