I just want to say that this is 100% perfectly on par and in line with PRESIDENT TRUMP‘s MO.
He starts by casually dropping and throwing out the idea. Many heads explode; there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
He backs off a bit, and maybe even publicly appears to soften or back down.
But he keeps the message out sporadically / it “magically and coincidentally” stays in the news fairly often.
As he’s getting closer to his objective, the public statements intensify & heat up; esp. after he’s gauged public opinion & support of his base.
Then he goes in for the kill and closes the deal just like he said he would.
